Why research and not wealth? Wealth allows you to run 100% science sooner, which is much more efficient.
[SPOILERS] Charriu and Zalson are fighting the honorable post count war!

Honestly I thought because I was going 100% science this turn that Research is better. Next time I will go wealth.

Not that much happened this turn. Most cities started their forges. Elkad's Schilda popped it's borders last turn and I start to lose that plain hill and plain tile that I gained a few turns ago. I still have 52% on the tile NW of Forza. We'll see if I will be able to hold that. You can also see my forces in Forza. In the south of Forza is my tiny attack force of 6 swordsmen and 3 (soon 4) chariots.

Building wealth/research doesn't use commerce multipliers; running 100% research does. That's usually while you'll build wealth to improve your wealth growing rate, and stay building wealth to enhance your ability to stay at 100% science.
You build research to get you over the hump on a specific tech. Can any other lurkers substantiate the general rule I'm advocating here?
That sounds very logical.

Shallow founded Confucianism . And of course he got it right in one of our border cities, as if I'm not under enough culture pressure. I might go to my UB earlier to relieve some of the pressure. Ah so Superdeath is finally working on that gems. Superdeath also canceled our corn for corn deal this turn and send me another one. Well I might as well accept it. Back on Forza's side I'm starting to loose culture on that contested NW tile of the city. Just a quick thing I wanted to point out. I'm now third in pop and crop yield behind the leaders Elkad and Shallow, who both have bigger empires.

Another turn of happily building away. The most interesting thing that happened was Elkad producing another Great Scientist and finishing Monotheism. Maybe he will start a golden age too, we'll see.

Oh boy Elkad finished the pyramids, started a golden age and switched into representation and Organized Religion. To top that even more he started Aesthetics, which lead him further down the culture path. Superdeath finished the gems mine, finally, but his control over the tile is not totally safe. I also noticed that one of his workers started building a workshop, so he has Metal Casting, too. I'm not sure if a workshop is the best option for this tile. If I would have desperately needed a workshop in his city I would have build it 1NW of his worker and a watermill on the tile he is currently building a workshop. Oh and he still hates roads, obviously.

Hi partner, of course I take your crab for crab deal. Our copper for copper deal was also canceled this turn, but Shallow did not renew it. Superdeath build the Great Library, propably uncontested if you see how much production there is in The Flash. He propably build it here to increase the culture pressure on Magic, but I think there could have been nicer spots for this wonder in his empire. The good thing about this is that Elkad didn't get this wonder with his representation running. Hey Exdeath is now the biggest city in the world. Huray Also I like how the ComicBooks Civ build the Great Library. As you can see my main trading partner is Shallow. I'm thinking about canceling our open border agreement with Superdeath. I just don't get enough trade gold from him and he may profit more from this then I do with his Great Lighthouse. What's your opinion? Also is there a way to see how much trade they get from me? It's getting crowed around Byblos. Superdeath also has a spy imp constantly watching my city, which I would like to get rid of. The question is would closing the border be to aggressive? In other news I canceled the iron gift to RFS. Last time I checked he didn't build any swordsmen and even if he started a few turns ago he propably just finished 1 or 2 of them. But I kept the open border agreement with him, you never know. As you can see from the screenshots I also went full science this turn and the next one. My golden age will end in 2 turns and I have more science modifiers in my cities then I have gold modifiers so going 2 turns of 100% science now should give me more beakers then I will get if I earn more money and go full science outside of my golden age. That's at least what I was thinking.
