That screenshot turned out a little more blurry than intended. Pretend you're looking at the map with sleepy eyes. lol

We're on turn 38 now. The horses have been pastured and Insomnia now has a Barracks to improve our odds of fighting off aggressors if need be. Working the Horse tile pushed Bronze Working to 4 turns at 90% break even science. If we do have Bronze in the vicinity, it should be a serious candidate for city 4. City 3 definitely needs to go near the gold though.

These are the demographics for turn 38. I'm doing fairly well in most areas except for GNP and food, which are probably the best indicators of early growth. Food should hopefully balance out once I farm the Corn near cities two and 3, but it's the GNP that concerns me for now. The top spot is all but certain to be Lord Parkin, who has Stonehenge culture adding to his GNP figure. Me being fourth looks nice on paper, but keep in mind that I also have Creative bonus culture that boosts my own GNP. And despite that, I'm still only fourth. So yes, we definitely need that gold city.

From the overview, you can see that Insomnia is currently training the Settler for that. Bronze Working will come in a turn or two before that, so I think I'll finish the build, and revolt into Slavery while the Settler is moving. Insomnia's next build will probably be a Worker that is whipped to completion.

Scouting-wise, Aristotle continues to meet people in the south:

That's a Scout of Plako, which makes me a bit uncertain of my earlier prediction of how everyone is placed in relation to each other. But let's assume for the moment that Lord Parkin is actually located in the northern half of the map and we get something like this:

?? -- SleepingMoogle -- Mackoti/Ioan --- Luddite --- LordParkin

JUNGLE ----------------- JUNGLE ----------------- JUNGLE

?? ------ Adlain ----- Locke/Cervantes -- Plako -------- ??

This could work at least. We'd have a good idea on the approximate location of the majority of Civs. Still a big question mark to the west though. smile

This would also mean my western neighbor is one of Sunrise/Rego, Nakor/Gaspar or WarlordDr. Yikes! I definitely want to know which of them it is, and soon.

A quick update on the map front. Some diplo that I really should be adding to this thread on a more consistent basis:

Locke Wrote:Yeah we thought maybe Lakes map too. Or something like it. We have met plako and Nakor so far along with you and Adlain. We are east of Adlain. Both of them are east of us.

Here is my guess for map. There are 10 teams in game. I think there are 5 in north and 5 in south. It sounds like you are in NW corner. Mackoti next to you. Then Adlain south of you and we east of him. More civs further east of us. We all start on edge of map and compete for center. Maybe that is wrong but I think it make sense. Map is BIG and there lots of space everywhere.

Thats all I can think of now for info. Other than obvous stuff like Parkin build Stonehenge and Adlain get Buddhism. If you can help us meet Mackoti it would be nice. You already know plako. To find Nakor you go really really really far east. He has scout wandring around you might see.

Good luck.
Locke

plako Wrote:Hi,

Message received ;-).

So as a recap we're pretty much as far from each other as possible in this map unless world wrap brings us closer from other direction. I've Warlord as the eastern neighbor and there are Nakor, Locke and Adlain west from me and you're north from Adlain.

How about you Have you met anyone else in the north?

Best regards,
Plako

Based on the messages, we can make the following assumptions:

Locke and Cervantes are Adlain's eastern neighbor.
Nakor and Gaspar are positioned in between Locke/Cervantes and plako.
WarlordDR is plako's eastern neighbor.
By process of elimination, that means that Sunrise and Rego are my western neighbor.

So my previous estimation of where everyone started was kind of right, but I placed some Civs in the wrong location.

Updated approximation of starting positions:

Sunrise/Rego -- SleepingMoogle ---- Mackoti/Ioan -------- Luddite ---- LordParkin

JUNGLE ----------------------------------- JUNGLE ---------------------------- JUNGLE

WarlordDr ------------ Adlain ------- Locke/Cervantes -- Nakor/Gaspar --- Plako

I haven't actually informed the 'southern' Civs of any of this except for Mackoti and Ioan's position. All have asked me which other civs I met, and so far they are the only others. shhh

Anyway, I menioned the large jungle band theory in my last message to plako. I'm curious if he has any input and if my ideas mesh with his.

I'm don't know how long the current pause is going to last Sciz, but this should be enough to play turns until I get back. smile If you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them, and I may be able to check in on occasion to comment on what's going on. The password I sent to you in a PM.

Thanks again for offering to play the turns and good luck!

Here's how things look right now:

Tech order:

*Bronze Working (finishes in 2 more turns)
*Pottery
*Writing

Civ changes:

Revolt into Slavery after Insomnia finishes its Settler

City builds:

Insomnia:
*Finish the Settler (4 turns)
*Start a worker, wait until whipping costs only 1-pop and whip him
*Overflow goes into a Chariot
*Finish the Chariot, then start training another Settler at size 4.
(If Insomnia hasn't regrown to size 4 yet, invest some hammers into a Granary or a Chariot, then switch to a Settler once the city reaches 4 pop again)
*2 Pop-whip the Settler to completion (Work the cow and 5-food deer until the city regrows to size 3)
*Finish the Chariot (if one was started), then regrow Insomnia to size 4 while working on a Granary

REM State:
*Let the current Warrior finish while working the Horse tile, then switch to the Farm and start another Warrior.
*If tile micro can finish the Warrior on the same turn the city grows, do it. Otherwise, emphasize food.
*Start a Worker at size 2. (Don't whip it) Work the Horse and Farm, and switch the Farm to the corn once it is hooked up.
*Start on a Granary if its available, or more Warriors until Pottery finishes, and then switch to one.

City 3:
Start on a Granary if possible, otherwise Warriors.

Workers:

1 and 2 are marked on the screenshot, 3 and 4 are in production.

1:
*Spent turns building the farms until REM state expands its borders (cancel the Worker's action before ending the turn)
*Once the borders expand, move NW and farm the Corn (5 turns)
*After the Corn is hooked up, move SE and finish the Farm
*Move S onto the grass hill
*Mine it (4 turns)

2:
(The road is marked in the screenshot as the blue line)
*Finish the road on the tile the Worker is currently standing on
*Move SE
*Road the tile (2 turns)
*Move E
*Road (2 turns)
*Move SE onto the Gold
*Road (2 turns)
*City 3 should be up by this time. Mine the gold (4 turns), then move to the Corn and farm it

3:
*Move S-SW-S-SE onto the grass hill
*Mine it (4 turns)

4:
Move S and cottage the tile

Depending on if we have copper near, these plans may be revised. smile

Settler:
*Move along the road to the city 3 location (the grass hill NE of the goldm yellow dot in the screenshot) and found there.

Unit movement:

Aristotle (southern scout)
*Continue scouting towards the east (the goal is to find the borders of Locke/Cervantes and to meet Nakor/Gaspar)

Plato (Eastern scout)
*Move back towards city 3 and guard the city

New warrior from REM state:
*Cover Worker 2 while he builds roads, start scouting towards to SW once city 3 is founded

Chariot
*Move to city 3 and/or protect the borders from possible aggressors

What about city 4?

And when do I take over from you? Tomorrow?
Reply

City 4 is unlikely to be founded before I return, and right now I don't yet know where it's supposed to go. smile 1S of the Wine or 1N of the eastern Cows are both options, but it's more likely to be placed to grab Copper if we happen to have any nearby.

I'll be leaving early monday morning (GMT), but please feel free to look around in the meantime. smile
