If it ends up being Shoot and I playing the civ, he prefers England and I prefer France
This is all very ironic to me as a history major, considering that these two were historical rivals.
If nothing else, I would also be happy to take Pacal of India, I love microing workers. Edit: Whenever I don't have Scooter coming in with Keshiks and snagging them

Dave, I realize we haven't discussed this at all in terms of the civ we are sharing, but I'd probably least prefer Gandhi. For some reason, I've always struggled with phi leaders. I'd probably be most comfortable with India personally as my play style tends to fit best with a fin leader, but it's not a huge deal either way.
Also, I suck at coming up with team/city naming themes, so anything you guys come up with is good for me.
While I agree we should have one primary turn player responsible for each civ (perhaps with the exception of Dave and I sharing a civ, but we'll see how that work load plays out), I think it would also be worthwhile for everyone to take responsibility of all three civs. Don't necessarily change anything in game, but certainly look at all three as much as possible and post suggestions in that civ's thread.

So, I didn't vote for the France/England thing, because I agree with Scooter that the main turnplayers for Gandhi should have the final decision.
I also agree that we should post in each other's threads as much as possible, but I'll be following WarriorKnight's civ most. That would make the teams Shoot/OlDave, Dazed/Scooter, WK/Ilios.

Haven't thought much about my civ preference tbh. Since Dave told me he wants to be SPI, I've assumed that Ghandi is off the table (plus I'm not that great at leveraging SPI). I don't really have a preference regarding the other, both would be fun combo's to play around with.
oledavy Wrote:btw, team, what threads do we need to start?
We probably need a general strategy as well as a thread for each civ. I think that C&D and Opponent analysis could be merged into one thread, as they are closely related. The others are probably not needed.

Agree, since the votes are close let whoever plays Ghandi decide.

Seconded. I'll follow a naming theme if I don't have to do any work finding names. Otherwise they'll probably be the default theme.

Okay, I guess the final division of the primary players looks like this:
Gandhi of France - Dazed and Scooter
Pacal of India - Oledavy and Shoot
Genghis Khan of Rome - WK and Ilios
If there is something wrong with this setup, speak now or forever hold your peace.
I went ahead and switched myself to Pacal. I also assumed Dazed and Scooter would pick France. Plako, whenever you read this, these are our final picks.

Agreed, this needs to be a team game if we want to have a prayer of winning.
Now that we decided all the important stuff, random things left to decide:
Team Name
I think we were all liking "Real Men of Genius" for our team name. Three possible formats for the sub-forum name:
"Team #3: Real Men of Genius"
"RB Presents: Real Men of Genius"
"Real Men of Genius"
Scooter mentioned he also liked Team Hipster, which might be fun for thread-spamming hipster jokes
Or maybe someone out there in the interwebs came up with a better team name - I probably haven't heard of it yet.
Naming Theme
So, do we wanna go with Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire" for a team-wide naming theme?

I think the part that made it seem fitting was the "you've probably never heard of us" which works nicely for being one of the "has no chance at winning" teams . Plus it easily lends to a naming scheme if need be.

I still prefer Real Men of Genius, but if you haven't seen it yet, this is the best hipster video i've seen:

Wha... I'm on the Praetorian Team? Oh man...
Just kidding!
I like Real Men of Genius (or Unreal Men), I don't really know what a Hipster is, allthough I have a clue after watching the video.
