Werewolf 7 game thread

Ok, amusing as reading the responses is, the value of letting this gambit run for a few hours more is probably fairly low.

I was trolling to draw out wolves, expecting 3 different types of wolf reaction:

1) Ignore my post for a while until having the chance to discuss with other wolves what to do about it (a typical response when village does something weird)

2) Start painting me as an "untrustworthy" villager in order to push a later tactical mislynch

3) Declare that I must obviously be a villager in order to build credibility for themselves (since only a wolf would know my alignment)

You might have different ideas of what wolf tells would be in this situation of course. But I'm going to go with a Scooter vote for now - I doubt that my post could have been seen as an "obvious joke" without prior knowledge of my alignment. I have other suspects based on the likely responses I outlined above.

Now wasn't that more useful than discussing who should be the mayor?

Well there's our answer lol. Am I really the only one who seriously thought that was a pretty obvious joke? I've followed and participated in enough uberfish games to know he's not a rage-quitter even slightly, and his sense of humor is pretty sarcastic.

Had me fooled as well, obviously (assuming he would be telling the truth).

Those who played LOL with me (not that I play much these days) know that I have done a bit of rage quitting / surrendering in my time :neenernee

Ok, so "joke" was the wrong word - "gambit" would have been better. I know enough about uberfish to know he'll try just about anything off-the-wall, regardless of how risky it may be - and that's burnt me more than once. wink So this whole ploy doesn't surprise me at all. I just couldn't figure out if he was actually pulling another wild stunt, or if he was being serious... which seems to be my downfall with him every time. For once I'm glad I didn't take him completely at face value, otherwise I'd feel like a big fool for voting to lynch him.

And this. THIS! I can attest to this firsthand, so that was definitely in the back of my mind. :neenernee Again, I couldn't tell which side of the coin you were on - balls-to-the-wall stunt, or honestly rage quitting, because you're never very verbose when you're rage quitting. wink Of course, most of your posts are short little bits, and only later do we get the longer, more explanatory post that shows us your thoughts behind the actions.

I gotta say, overall this seems... pretty damn good. I don't know if it'll work, but the theory sounds good to me. Of course, the thought that's hanging at the back of my mind (and getting much louder by the moment) is that this could be a clever ploy to go deep cover as a 'Wolf. How many times have you pulled some stunt and gotten me to go along with it uberfish, nearly costing the Village a victory? Twice now? I'd really rather not make it a third. :neenernee So... yeah. I applaud you on another fine gambit, but it still doesn't tell me jack about your alignment. Although... I'm inclined to think you're more innocent, just from the "tone" of your post.

So what makes scooter stand out? And who else do you suspect? I'm trying to re-read posts given your theory and cross it against them, to see if anything stands out, but so far I'm not seeing much out-of-character...

When I read uberfish's comment it seemed to be an obvious joke. Even if he was telling the truth the game would be a bit of a farce and we'd probably have a do-over or something, right?

It makes me suspicious of the people who engaged in the discussion on it, particularly zakalwe.

I still think uberfish's confession is a wolf ploy, and it seems to be working. If he's done it before as a villager, I don't find it unlikely he'd use it as an alibi now to establish trustworthiness. I also find Injera's blunt dismissal of the theory that uberfish really is a wolf to be suspicious.

Well, I still think it is a pretty ridiculous villager play. Then again, it would be a pretty ridiculous wolf play as well, unless Uberfish was seriously rage quitting and then got persuaded to continue by his fellow wolves.

Anyway, I agree that dismissing Uberfish' post as an "obvious" joke seems very strange. It certainly wasn't obvious to me. (Or rather: it seemed very improbable that a villager would make a joke like that.)

I only interacted with Uberfish in the series of WW games, and here he has always been very businesslike and serious. When I tried to be entertaining in WW3, he was not amused. smile

So having thought about it now, I think I'm leaning towards Uberfish being innocent. As a planned wolf gambit it just seems incredibly attention-seeking, and there's really no reason why he would be this upset about the game setup or about being a wolf. Rage-quitting like that would be incredibly disloyal to his team, and I don't think he'd do that, now that there appears to be a slightly more plausible explanation.
If you know what I mean.

For the record, my current suspects are Scooter / Meiz / Catwalk / Zakalwe in no particular order.

However, rather than reread posts against my theory, I think it'd be better if everyone formed their own theory about what they'd do if they were a wolf in this situation and see if there was some sort of consensus.

Obviously I'd be capable of pulling this stunt both as villager and wolf, so the fact that I used a gambit clearly isn't any evidence one way or the other in itself. It's the motivations behind my actions and the responses to them that people should look at.

Hm as I see it uberfish looks good in that color.
