Oh, did we want to ban building the Tower of Mastery until Omniscience has been researched, as other games have done? I don't feel strongly either way.

Uh-oh.
That means only three or less mana nodes per civ- or even worse, predetermined types instead of raw nodes. If it's the latter, is it too late for me to change my civ pick order?
Not exactly, I said difficult rather then impossible. A Tower victory would definitely be possible without consuming or killing another civ, but it will be difficult, more so then it has been in previous games, and enough so that I do not believe an Omniscience qualifier is necessary.
That said, no it is not yet too late to change your civ. It would be very irritating, however.

Okay. I'm seriously considering switching, but have no desire to hold up the game nor cause you additional stress. Especially since I'm really hoping to play my first turn today, if the map is/will be finished I guess just keep me as my current civ, presuming I got my first pick.

For 500 years he watched over the land. Watched as the shrines were desecrated and Agares and Ceridwen spread their bile throughout his land. His Spirit sister believed in the compact and he had wanted to too. But as the years ran by him, this unending sentry saw the work their compact had wrought. He saw the warrior Bhall laid low, seduced in her complacency by the whispers of her most hated enemy. He watched as the ice-king rose and took dominion over all and wept as Sucellus was entombed. For a while he hoped that the rebirth of nature might redeem them, but they passed from one hellish lord to another, exchanging the stark, bare ice for their own corrupted, polluted lands.
Until, finally, he could bear it no longer. All across Erebus, in the twisted courts of the Infernal to the Breeding Pits of the Calabim, writing appeared. "You have been judged, the product of your souls weighed the in balance and found wanting." The earth beneath their feet shook, and great mountains rose from it. Atop these holy slopes glowing portals split in the fabric of the vault, and the host of Heaven poured forth, their eyes burning with holy zeal. And in the vaults of Hell, the ancient stalemate was broken and Angel and Demon did battle in its endless layers. The races of Erebus were purged, their cities torched by Seraphs and overrun with angels. Those who fled to the countryside were stalked by the Angels of Death and their justice meted out with righteous fury. Those few who had remained devout were blessed by Junil and joined the eternal ranks in their extermination. When it was done, Junil looked out across the Plane and deemed it good. Man, Elf, Dwarf and Orc, they had all been unmade, and all their works undone, and even the land had begun to heal. The Angels of Death abandoned the land, for their unending war, with only the fiery Seraphs and a precious few of their mortal companions patrolled the now-barren lands of Erebus. Those most exalted in Agares eyes now endured eternal torment beneath the cold stare of the Valkyrie. Justice had been served. But some few had escaped their retribution. Some say The One interceded on mankinds behalf, unwilling to see his greatest creation undone. Others, perhaps more sensibly, consider it the work of Ceridwen, plucking some few of her chosen and hiding them amongst unending dimensions. Regardless, they have emerged from their hiding at last, and seek to rebuild their civilization while Heavens wrath is distracted. But all now that it is only through ultimate domination or greatest mastery that they may survive judgement, indefinitely, although some pray to a higher calling... Game launched. Tholal is first in turn order. If there are any errors please report them immediately.

Oh good, the picks are posted. It's taken some serious willpower for me not to change my mind
I'm willing to go with the map-maker's judgement and put no additional requirements on the ToM. Thanks for all the work Q. |
