Turn 13 - 3480 BC
Moncacht-Ape moved two tiles south and he found two sugar resources, one jungle-covered, one not. Those will be nice to have eventually, but they, and the whole jungle region Moncahct-Ape has been scouting for the past few turns, do not look very appealing for a third city. My fog gazing proved correct, and Moncacht-Ape will be able to move two tiles west to a hill jungle next turn. At Cuzco, a lion came into view, but besides that everything kept proceeding as before.

This turn, I joined the game to see an amusing instance of attempted trolling from the RNG. It grew a jungle on the tile that Moncacht-Ape was supposed to walk across this turn! However, this attempt was a failure because he could still get to his destination by going around the new jungle via the clear sugar tile. Nice try RNG, but you will have to do better than that! Next turn Moncacht-Ape will move one tile southwest.
Besides that, Worker One finished the corn farm on schedule, so Cuzco will grow in two turns. Everything is proceeding according to plan.

That jungle will be nice once it's all cut down, I can see a good spot for a GP farm, then those hills to the west of jungle will make for a good hammer city as well. Hopefully there's some more food in the fog there.
It was probably better to have gone via the sugar anyway, get to see more that way if it's all flat (which it was).

Moncacht-Ape moved one tile southwest, and, as you can see, he found a dry wheat resource! It’s not the best resource, but this area may be worth considering for a third city depending on what else Moncacht-Ape finds nearby. Next turn he will move one tile southwest to another grassland forest hill.
Also, here is a screenshot of the activity around and within Cuzco:
Worker One started farming the sugar, and we are one turn out from growing to size 2. I will switch to producing Worker Two next turn.
Lastly, there was some Cloak and Dagger work to do this turn. RFS-81 gained 6 points, so he got a tech. Based on rival power levels and the amount of time it took for him to get this tech, I believe that what he got was Mining.

This was a good turn. Moncacht-Ape found a silver resource, and it is riverside too! Finally, an early game luxury resource. However, I am worried that the silver indicates a contested region that is equally far from Cuzco and someone else’s capital. I know that stuff like that has been done on previous maps. What do you think about settling somewhere in this region for our third city?
As for Moncacht-Ape’s next move, I was thinking of moving southwest, then northwest, but the lion changes things. I was the last one to play, so I saw that when I ended my turn the lion moved off into the darkness. Three of the four tiles it could have gone to would interfere with that plan, so I think going two tiles northwest to avoid that danger is the best option. What do you think about that?
Furthermore, notice that we have taken our deserved place on top of the scoreboard. The reason for that is that we are the first civilization to have grown past size one. As planned, now that Cuzco is size two it switched to working the corn farm and the unimproved sheep while producing Worker Two.

We got 8 points for growing 1 size? That doesn't seem right, isn't a single pop usually worth 1-2 points? For some reason I can't recall back to the beginnings of my own games...
Going NW-NW is probably the safest thing to do with the scout.

It was a good thing Moncacht-Ape moved two tiles northwest instead of following the old plan; if he had followed the old plan, then he would be adjacent to a lion now! We aren’t free of the lion yet, though. Next turn I want to move Moncacht-Ape one tile southwest, then one tile northwest, but if that southern lion moves north or northwest then I think that I will move northwest instead to avoid it. Also, you may not be able to see it, but there is a jungle-covered dye resource one tile west of Moncacht-Ape. It looks like Iron Working will be an important technology on this map, even for those of us who are not SHAKA OF ROME .

I believe that the amount of points you get from population is related to how much population could theoretically be sustained with all the tiles on the map, or something like that. Basically, the bigger the game, the less points each population is worth. The smaller the game, the more points each population is worth. This game is pretty small.

The lion cooperated by moving west (he is two tiles south of Moncacht-Ape in the image), so Moncacht-Ape was able to move as planned. He found… nothing interesting, just jungle. Where he goes next is dependent on what the lion does. I am willing to have him scout more slowly along a non-optimal path to avoid fighting an animal.
In foreign news, there were score increases from RFS-81, Coeurva, Charriu, and superdeath this turn. They were all for eight points, so they were all population growths. I have marked them down on my Cloak and Dagger spreadsheet. Sadly, this means that we are back in fourth place on the score board. I expect to see some more six point increases from technology any turn now. I think that most people are researching Bronze Working.

Turn 19 – 3240 BC
A lion (I am not sure if it is the same one as before because of the way it is facing. I think that a lion coming from the southeast should be facing northwest, but this lion is facing southeast) appeared to the southwest of Moncacht-Ape this turn. I didn’t want to fight it, so I had Moncacht-Ape move into the flatland jungle to his northwest. He found yet another jungle-covered sugar. Those things are everywhere! Again, what Moncacht-Ape does next depends on what the lion does. However, I would prefer to go around the south of that little mountain range if I can.
Back at Cuzco, phase one of the plan is complete . Worker One finished the sugar farm this turn, and next turn he will move west to mine the hill. Worker Two will join him in three turns. Here is an overview screenshot:

No! The lion moved to the worst possible tile! Moncacht-Ape moves northwest to avoid fighting it, but sadly this means he reveals no new tiles at all this turn. Next turn he will move northwest, then southwest over to that plains hill, but if the lion calls up any of his friends then things might go differently. At least things are going well back at Cuzco, where Phase Two begins without any problems.
As this is Turn 20, all of the players get a bunch of land points. In this case, everyone gets twenty points. No one gets any other point increases this turn, however. Next turn we will get Bronze Working, and I will be very surprised if superdeath and shallow_thought don’t get it along with us.
