I was thinking about jumping in, but I really can't make that commitment with what else I'm involved in. However, I'd consider subbing temporarily (say, 2 weeks tops) while you look for a replacement. This would be with the stipulation that I'm free to leave again after 2 weeks. I think it's a shame for your game to get stalled, so if a temporary sub is acceptable to you while you look for a permanent player I'm happy to help out with that. For that matter, Asterix would be welcome to take over again if whatever he's busy with gets sorted out. Shit happens.
I can honour everything but the communication requirement, diplomacy from me would likely be one-sentence e-mails and fairly aggressive Beware of sending me long e-mails, you'll likely end on my target list I don't really mind diplo games, just don't have the time for it. I'd consider myself minimally spoiled, in the sense that I vaguely recall entering a few other threads at some point but I can honestly say I don't remember a single thing from them. I look through Maga's thread yesterday, and the game didn't seem familiar to me in the least, so I assume I've forgotten what little I read

Welcome Catwalk - I agree with c_h that it would be best if we resumed the game as soon as possible.
If anyone has an objection to Catwalk subbing, please post in the next 24h for discussion.
Otherwise,
@Catwalk - perhaps PM Caledorn to get set up. You may have to tolerate a few briefing e-mails from the other teams, but (as a temporary player) I don't think the diplo element of the game will be burdensome.
We can work to recruit a more permanent replacement in the mean time.

As long as y'all keep in mind that messengers will be met with a double-barrelled shotgun, it's all good
I'll just focus on keeping the economy reasonable and hissing at anyone with units near my borders
Going to PM Caledorn now, I assume there's no harm in playing two turns right away and then stepping down again in case someone has an objection?

Hi,
I have found this thread thanks to Catwalk. If you won't find a replacement for missing player (Asterix, am I right?) I _might_ be interested

- Must obey all current deals Asterix has (seems like the fairest thing for me)
- Needs to realize that this is a full diplomacy game, so communication is important.
- Playing to win.
(...) I would prefer the replacement have no spoiler knowledge. - I have limited multiplayer experience (a lot of team games with my roommate 2 vs AI teams and some duels), on SP I am playing on emperor
- Wouldn't be a problem, of course I would first have to know about those deals I have not read nor touch any of the thread from this subforum, except of this one.
- Diplomacy part is the one that scares me a little bit...
- Fair enough, I wouldn't send gold nor give a way my cities for free (if that is what you mean)
The only part that I'm not sure is diplomacy game. Maybe the best would be for me to follow Catwalk's thread for next couple of days before my final "application" for this spot?

Sounds good, and hopefully things can get moving in a matter of hours. Welcome to the game, Catwalk. Just one thing: where would you prefer we contact you? I understand you don't want to do some "hardcore" diplomacy, but it's important that you have some basic information such as NAPs, deals, etc. Apologies in advance if I make super-long diplomacy messages.
Next thing ... where do we find a replacement player? I've taken the liberty of posting in the Civ4 general forum, but does anyone else have a possibly more reliable way of doing things?
Finally, this is a request to teams that haven't been updating their spoiler threads here, but I would encourage you to at least make brief posts here and there so that lurkers can have perspectives on the game that aren't from EggHeads, SutOxy, Blame Caledorn, and other common threads. It also makes it interesting to go back once the game ends to see how we all did and what the composition of our empries were at certain stages of the game. Obviously I can't make you, but it would result in a more fulfilling RB-style game.
EDIT:
Whoops, crossposted with B4andit above. If you're interested in replacing, we'll be glad to have you around, and definitely follow the game for a few turns to gauge interest. And emperor is fine for single player, we just needed to make sure a replacement has a *reasonable* knowledge of Civ. I play on deity for instance, and a LOT of it is just knowing how to abuse AIs (e.g., if Boudica has 10x your power and you're next to her, don't bother with building an army if you're Pleased with her, etc.).
Okay, I will try to cut down on diplomacy here. I think Asterix was getting a little annoyed at my lengthy, Lord Parkin-style messages anyway. Teams that have deals with Asterix should update you anyway on any prior agreements, etc. so we can all take care of that.

This sounds like a great idea B4andit. If Catwalk's up for it, it would be great if both of you have the new password. You can review the situation and decide if the game is something you want to commit to.

No worries about messages, but you may want to start making preparations for burying a lot of dead couriers. I'd prefer being contacted via PM on here, and I would indeed like all deals to be sent to me right away so I can cross people off on my death list
I'm also fine with B4ndit lurking me for a bit, and you might be able to talk me into dedlurking you if you want to do good reporting. I'll probably report very little on this though, so lurking might be little use to you. Want to just jump into it, and I'll coach you a bit? Worst thing that can happen is that you waste a year of your life and hate Civ forever Unless you're unsure about the time requirement, I say go for it. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to have any active player, don't sweat it about how well you'll do.

How much time do spent everyday on this game? On average and worst/best case scenarios

I could look around for start and later I could start asking questions to Catwalk about his view on situation, short and long term strategy.
