I want to prove my humans are stupid point; especially Americans. I (an American) took my kids out for trick or treat. Now I originally just wanted to do 4-5 houses. Grandparents, 1 friend we already see, 1 close family friend we knew would have masks, and 2 neighbors. Somehow I let our friends cute 4 year old persuade us to trick or treat the 2 streets between their house and the family friend. Just incredibly stupid and irresponsible of us.
And yes after the first two houses with Trump signs didn't have masks on and got in my kids faces we stopped doing houses with Trump signs.
In the defense of Americans. MOST* houses either had masks, candy bowls out front / tables, or a combination of other things (kitchen tongs and masks).

With so many terrified of wearing a mask one would think it would be the perfect Halloween costume.

To be fair, just being in public maskless is also a horrifying sight for many (not unreasonably imo).
Btw, is trick still an actual option for trick or treat? or is Halloween just free effortless candy? And doesn't that teach the kids socialism?

When does election coverage usually start on election day?

7am the next morning, because why put yourself through that? With mail in votes it could be longer of course. Why feed the frenzy?
I'm sure various networks start at various times each trying to outdo each other.

Most of the media outlets in the morning will likely cover the lines (or lack thereof) at in-person polling locations, conduct the usual voter interviews, etc. while getting their viewer/listener base all ready to go for later in the day. Early results coverage follows in the afternoons and once dinner time hits all of the major news outlets will go full tilt with their coverage.

For fun of course.

Political season cant end fast enough. I like overtime, but 70+hrs a week is not my cup of tea

In general, results aren't reported until the polls close, so it varies a lot depending on each state's schedule. I think Indiana is usually one of the first states to close its polls, at 7:00 PM I think, but most states stay open till 9:00 PM. So the west coast won't be official till at least midnight my time (eastern US time zone). Further caveat: people who are in line when the polls close are still allowed to vote, so a close race might not be decided until hours after the official poll closing time. Also, state rules vary on when mail-in ballots are processed: some have already counted them but haven't revealed the totals, while others aren't allowed to start counting until election day.
Bottom line: mjmd is right, it's best to wait till morning unless you're so worried about the results you can't sleep anyway.
