RBP3 [SPOILERS] - Friendly Kittens (Ragnar of Maya)

Meant to mention that about the cottage - figured wrongly you wanted to grow it lol

HV will be a lovely city to whip.

My real question regarding HV and it's +17ish food is - What are we trying to do with it? It has a grainery and a forge. I was basically following Ref's microplan with some fixes in the one I posted. I changed nothing regarding that city... It's been building a monastery. Are we trying to whip it into a commerce city then cottage over stuff?

Are we trying to whip units? I can't see single whipping the monastery. Are we going to try to triple whip something else? Stable? Library? and finish the monastery with the overflow? I could try to come up with a plan, but I dono wth we're doing with it lol . Someone make the call and I'll work out how to do it efficiently lol

I'm done using the sandbox. Too much time that I don't have the next 6 weeks, sorry, but... I'd definitely do some spreadsheety stuff (without the spreadsheet as my excel is borked.) later in the week if you want. I know what the plan is elsewhere, I just need to know what to do with THAT city.

Again, I really think we can have a really good go of this game if we just keep communicating. From my diplo talks, most of the teams seem disorganized, disenchanted, or both. I, for one, am still having fun with it. smile

Wasn't HV going to be our Globe city? My thought was that it would basically whip infrastructure (Hindu monastery, hindu temple, aqueduct, barracks, stable, not necessarily in exactly that order) and then whip a theater and troops into the Globe. And then whip more troops (and/or workers, settlers, or whatever else is needed) until it can draft. The Monastery and temple are for AP hammers and culture. (I want to pop 3rd ring borders there and at Ornata in the not-impossibly-distant future to create a more reasonable line for our southern front.) Missing the chance to 2-whip the monastery must have been a mistake on my part someplace, but I'm not sure it's the end of the world to 1-pop whip things. We have lots of happy, we'll have the globe eventually, and we can always whip a ballcourt if needed.

Note we can't triple-whip anything but a Settler there. (Well, a 'duct, I guess.) A double-whip for a building at HV gives 90 hammers.

I'll communicate as best I can, but have little to no time, and have fallen behind again. A bunch of real-life demands I've been postponing need intensive attention now, and I may be digging out into the indefinite future. But I'll still answer questions and give suggestions as best I can.

I'm glad you are! But the disorganized/disenchanted sounds like very bad news to me. I don't suppose there's anything we could do to inject a bit more fun into the game?

Obviously you should take care of RL issues ahead of a game. Helping with general suggestions as you are able would be great.

The globe idea sounds great, but I dono if we'll ever draft that place. Seriously, by the time we have the globe, we might have infantry...

Actually, I'm not sure if the monastery was a mistake. We just whipped something else 2 turns ago, and it's already grown right back.

I think we can tipple whip a courthouse actually, and a grocer, and that's a place that could use both smile

Now that I know we still want to make that a military spot at some point, I'll set to work on planning for it.

As best I can tell, most of the Pat civs, especially Babylon, Carthage and Mal,are still having fun. Maybe Ottos, hard to tell. They seem to be doing well.

We're #1 in food, pop, and GNP. We're 5th in hammers cause we're screwed for hills, but we have pop we can whip to help with that, and happiness to allow it. We're 6th in military, but, we know who's ahead of us: England, Egypt, Carthage, India, and Ottos. All 5 civs are fighting a massive war about as far from our lands as can be, which means we're the top military power that is NOT involved in "the big war". Combined with our NAP's, that should leave us sitting pretty while we crank out some pikes and knights... and settlers and workers smile

Paused again rolleye

I'm sure we can abuse the whip at HV - maybe those 3 FP to cottages once we have a few spare turns.

Got an interesting email from Byz that all should read. They're basically suggesting we should form a 3rd alliance to try to get some interest back into the game. I like the idea in principal, but the first and foremost problem is I doubt Kyan has interest.

I have tomorrow off, and, with TimeGate in the books, I have less demands on my time in the immediate future, and so, I'll see if I can rig up a suggested micro plan tonite/tomorrow.

I'll also see if I can post some pictures or links to same from the first con in the next 48hrs.

Nice one Manic we can compare notes, I'm puzzled over overflow food in whipping. Can you explain briefly.

Swiss gave us 90 gold, so we have another turn at 100%.

What specifically puzzles you about the food? I think there might be some issue with settlers and workers, but otherwise, I'm not sure what's puzzling.

I'm adjusting some tiles at FS. I believe if we wait till NEXT turn to whip the Monastery, we can overflow into a worker and finish the worker in 1 turn. smile

I've been studying our cities. I feel like the capital should just go Settler -> Settler -> Settler (whipped with overflow into)-> University of Sankore. The settlers can make Smithsonian, the City near Byz, and then either Red or Green or Savannah in that order.

PR is going to finish up a Knight, and should probably make a pike next. It can mostly just keep working the tiles it is on for a while, pulling in the plains farm when it grows. It should then be able to JUST complete the pike in 3 OR come a hammer short and put 16 hammers of overflow + a whip into making one of those tasty 1 turn workers (or a 3 turn settler). I think I prefer the latter.

Temminck is going to naturally finish the aqueduct the turn it needs it now, which is good. I was going to suggest another slow and whip, but it's already at 20 turns of unhappyness, so I'm lothe to whip, especially single whip, it for another 10 turns. I could be convinced, of course. I'd rather we just let it make a worker or two from scratch after the duct, though, then maybe it could start on a university which we could whip to completion. Worker wise, we need to get a plains tile farmed up here in short order.

Feng Shui - I worked this out in my head, rearranging some tiles to make this work. We need to wait till NEXT turn when it grows to size 11, then whip the monastery to completion, overflowing into a worker. Unless my math is wrong, we should be able to complete the worker in 1 turn by doing this. =) That'll up it's meter to 2 unhappy.

Kilrah - I don't have anything specific to say here. Originally I was not in favor of the Knight, but it's only 1 more turn than the pike right now, so ok. We should probably get at least one of those plains hills mined asap. We don't want to go overboard here, but we're making +10 food there, and each of those hills is 10 hammers of military production! We should avoid whipping this city pretty much ever again. Just keep it growing and pumping militarty.

HV - I think we should do the following.
123 Start Temple.
124 Double Whip Temple.
125 Resume Monastery (for overflow).
126 Start Ball Court.
127 Double Whip Ball court.
128 Resume monastery (overflow will complete)
129 Start Courthouse.
130 Tripple Whip Courthouse. This city can really use this.
131 Start Settler (3 turns to complete)
After that, it could make 2 workers over 5 turns to help work off some of the whip anger.

Ornata's near term is pretty straight forward. Pop boarders, mine gold, chop grainery.

How does this sound? I'm going to be around for the next 10 days or so, so I can handle the tile swapping and such and help with the worker actions.

The war has unfortunately screwed up our ability to get stone from our allies, so, with nothing much to lose, I've sent a letter to Byz asking if we can borrow theirs lol

We'll have our gold hooked up next turn, and thus can afford to trade them gems till they get theirs hooked up. I'd even throw in some worker turns or something, or maybe some gold or whatever we can arrange. It actually would not KILL us to start Sankore late I suppose, but it would be a tad bit annoying. If we're unable to procure the stone from Byz, what do you think about building a regular university in the capital instead?

Do me a favor. When the turn finally does roll, leave the settler, the 2 workers near Pride Rock (Nala and Bagheria) and the northernmost worker near Kilrah (Oliver) for me. I have plans for them. Feel free to move all other units.

Also, if we're sure we want to found cities Red River, Smithsonian, and "city" by Byz as our next 3 sites, then we should found in the order I just listed them because we'll have just enough worker turns to shave a turn off getting each one of them settled by having roads in place if we do it in this order.

Red River does not need a missionary instantly, it;s under no cultural pressure and its best tiles are first ring. The other 2 sites, however DO need to pop boarders asap. So in reality we'd best do Settler-> Settler -> Missionary in the capital. We can get the missionary for the city by Byz from Temminck and it should get there just in time or 1 turn late. Not too worried about the single turn, but I think it gets there in time if I remember last night.
