Some funnily-timed diplo that came in when I was sleeping
First an email from SleepingMoogle (1:14 am my time)
Quote:As a bit of a late continuation to the above, I signed a NAP lasting until T170 with luddite, which should work out will in case we do become neighbors in the near future. This should give us the time we need to deal with Adlain at least; I'm about to remove his presence from the band of jungle in the picture with city locations that we agreed on earlier. Unfortunately his city position is so incompatible with the planned expansion that I'll probably have to raze it, but c'est la vie. Judging from his power chart, he isn't in any position to object.

Then one from Adlain at 4:40
Quote:Send the woker SE untill you hit my borders and gift, Beware sleepingmoogles - they apear to be pissed at my city location and are about to start a war over it it seems so long as you stay out of sight of them you need not find yourself on the wrong side of him unless you want some expanding opertunities.
Kind Regards,
Adlain

Quote:Roger that - he will head SE which hopefully will be out of the way of Moogle. Unfortunately, our military is not really in any condition to fight anyone at this point :-). I believe we're 9th in soldiers
Left unsaid is that Adlain is 10th

And reply to Moogle
Quote:Okay - I can't see any way that your NAP with luddite would interfere with anything that we're doing. Mackoti did offer to pay us gpt for our iron source, which I am not sure what to do about. On the one hand, we could use the gold. On the other hand, I don't really want to tick off luddite who appears to be winning this war...
Good luck with Adlain, at least with oru initial wave. Depending on things, we may want to even just continue the war and let us build up for a second wave
He has not mentioned the seafood in between us, despite my bringing it up twice. So my thought would be that he is wanting to wait and bring it up until he's closer to settling one of them.
Of course two can play at that game....

Email to plako
Quote:Hi plako,
Seems like we keep missing each other over chat, so I thought I'd drop you a note via email with some of my thoughts.
We were wondering how the war was going - from everything I've been able to see / hear it seems like it's going very well for you and judging from your relative power graphs, that's probably not going to change any time soon.
But I didn't know what your plans were for all that land. I'm sure you could understand at how some of the other powers might feel a bit nervous if the guy who's already in first place ended up with twice the land of everyone else! I don't know if anyone has told you that about 20 turns ago, there was a request that went out to the other 9 powers, asking them to close borders with you to deny you intercontinental trade routes. It had some support but (obviously) was not agreed to by everyone. Some of the reasons that you would probably bring up for why people shouldn't do that (hurting our own tech pace, just making Lord Parkin and/or Locke stronger, etc.) were brought up. Even though we're a bit worried about how far you are ahead of us, I'm glad that it failed frankly - over here in Zululand we're also fairly susceptible to the "close borders" tactic and so I'm glad that no precedent was set there.
So what is your plan with all of WK's lands. Our thread has mentioned possibly jumping in to the war on your side. I'm sure that you've seen the power graphs and so you probably know that our army isn't QUITE as big as your :-) but we do have a few units. But one concern was that we didn't want to "steal" any land you felt was yours.
While I was thinking about it, I didn't know too if you felt like you were far enough ahead that you didn't really care what other civs thought about you. You played PB2, so you know probably better than us about how Speaker and Sullla went - after they beat off the original CoW, they just took out Jowy (and eventually athlete) with out any regard to what any of the other civs (nakor, slaze, whosit, etc) might think. They had you guys as an ally, but that was about it. So maybe you feel like you're at that point - I don't know. You surely have a good lead on the pack.
Anyways, I should be around off and on for the weekend if you want to try and catch me or just respond.

And just for reference, here's the chat plako sent back on Apr 20 with regards to the cow site to the SW of Bob's Fork
Quote:9:46 AM plako: Hi
9:47 AM me: hi
9:48 AM plako: FYI we won't be settling the city near cows as planned at this point. Too expensive I'm afraid.
9:49 AM me: oh ok
plako: You're free to take a place ther, if you get there 1st
Just in case he doesn't like the fact that we're going to settle there (next turn)
It IS crazy far from him - I want to say that's like 6th or 7th ring from his capital!!!

Hmm...well you can always adopt OR without adopting a state religion. Clearly you don't get the hammer bonus, but it might let you get Buddhism spread around in anticipation of adopting it. You probably won't be making buildings at those cities anytime soon anyway...

Right - I think that is the plan. But I'm trying to get Moai done in Harrison (I'm very lucky that Buddhism auto-spread there a few turns ago), so the more I delay adopting a religion, the more I delay Moai completion.
Though probably not by more than a few turns I suppose...

The interesting thing is with the exception of us (whose score is way lower) and Moogle (whose score is way higher), this is pretty close to a one for one correlation with the score rankings
