In related news, man we got the worst start to be non creative on
His window of opportunity for razing one of our cities is rapidly closing. This doesn't mean he's no causing disruption, because the whipping will certainly hurt, but I think he could have done more damage by putting the hammers for that settler into 2 more Praets (those forests could also have been chopped for more Praets/Catapults).
He could easily have burned our newest corn city in the west by moving his stack that way to start the war. Instead, by moving east and waiting for the second ministack to arrive he's allowing us to get and additional 1 cat, 3 axe, 2 HA minimum into the action. HA are huge because they allow us to flank his catapults, whereas before they would have been the top defender vs our axes at 50/50 (60/40 for our two C1 axes).

SoZ has fallen ... fortunately it landed halfway across the world from us and not in Azzaland.

I also offered strait peace to Azza (we don't have anything else to sweeten the deal). I doubt he'll accept, but who knows? (NOTE to Q: just a reminder, if you log in and decide to check the diplo windows make sure you unpause first and repause after you're finished otherwise you'll get stuck)
Peace will force us to give up our strategic jungle-hill location, but will allow us to put off whipping HA's and give us max benefit from an immediate GA.

I don't think peace is worth it - the city he founded isolates paradigm, and allows him to fork the two - not to mention dominated the region culturally!
We need to raze it now, or stay at war to keep units on that hill.

Peace is stronger. Immediate access to +2 happy in virtually all our cities from religion/HR combo, plus OR benefit (Heroic Epic), GA now isn't reduced because of massive whipping. We'll have time to improve our road network in the west so that our stack doesn't have to sit vulnerable to a first strike, while still being able to attack Azza's stack anywhere it moves into our territory.
Chop the ivory, road ivory and the square that the stack will sit. From there we can reach any of the tiles that Azza can invade. Paradigm will have expanded borders to ivory by that time (deny road movement there to Azza) so as long as we can keep 1st ring culture control around Paradigm we'll be safe. Granary will be whipped turn after next, Theater to be whipped as soon as we regrow to size 4.
I would rather have the peace ... but I'm not expecting to get it because our visible forces aren't enough to defeat his stack (impi + 3 axes + 2 HA's still incoming)

See thats what I doubt, also we've a decent chance of losing second ring PC.
Err, I notice Porcupine is unhappy - is there no way we can shuffle the city defenders thataway to give it MP this turn?

PC is getting +2cpt (same as creative Azza) with a head start of more than 20 culture. Porcupine was intentionally (although still unfortunately) left unhappy. Archer will move in next turn. I shuffled the impi from there and Volcano westward. I could have moved the archer out of Doughnut last turn to save the turn of unhappiness at Porcupine, but that would have caused 2 unhappiness in Doughnus so I opted to wait for the second archer to walk over even though it leaves Porcupine unhappy.

PC will lose its second ring relatively quickly then, possibly not by the end of the peace treaty but who knows (you know how culture works right?)

Oh, right. I thought you meant first ring of PC. Yeah 2nd ring is gone for sure (I'd already given up the 2nd ring to Azza in my head and wasn't even considering it any more).

I'm just confirming the agenda for this turn. I'll play in the morning.
Our GArtist has arrived ... Initiate Operation Civic Swap via GA immediately? I vote "yes". I think that we should slow-build a forge ahead of HE in Porcupine. Also Porcupine should work all mines from now on except when/if we want to grow. A mine is more valuable here than the village.
Doughnut should 2-pop whip the forge, overflowing to finish the Ikhanada and then build us some military. Mars I think should whip us a forge. Since we're IND the forge will pay for itself rather quickly. Religion will give us happy, so I don't think we should whip Grand Slam just yet. Keep growing. Volcano, Pork Chop, Blimp, and Postos Village should all whip their HA's this turn.
So Azza didn't move in to the attack. The only troop movement that I notice is a Praet moved out of Zombie Pigman (ZP for short) into the ministack behind. Azza is really going about his attack slowly, IMO. We'll be into maces by the time our GA runs out, and in the mean time our 4 incoming HA's should secure our border. I'd like to get another impi or two over there soon-ish as well, because I suspect Azza has some HA's of his own coming online in the near future.
Plan is to move the Impi from Pork Chop onto our jugle-hill stack and promote to C1 (protect from Chariot attack) while the impi from Volcano advances to Pork Chop. The religion swap/whippage will take care of the induced unhappiness from loss of MP.
