Oops. The fourth Plague word was meant to be CRICKET as in the biblical plague of locusts, I thought crickets and locusts were related but it turns out they are actually grasshoppers. I was also hoping you would pick up one of Europe/March in the second round so I could give a 3-clue in the third round, but I ended up stuck having to pick between Bunny and something like Mitochondria, but I couldn’t justify that as a clue for either Europe or March.

And yeah, when I gave the Wagner clue I was hoping you all would know just enough to pick up the generally related words, but not so much that you’d prefer more specific words. That definitely backfired.

Well played Commodore smile

Ha, yup I've had that problem, when the guessers know more about a clue than the spymaster and read in intentions that the spymaster didn't intend.

So Bunny was pointing to Battery, nice clue there and we got the logic. Then our last word was BARK rather than Cook, I did see that connection to Bunny as a woodlands item, though too far down the list to have gotten there in only one try.

Well played, everyone.

I'm happy to spymaster, and waiting until the weekend would be ideal. Shall we pick up again on 10 September?

HOOK - Animal Carcasses hang from hooks
BILL - Butcher's Bill is common expression for number of deaths in war.
HAM - End product of butchering a pig.
OPERA - Butcher of Seville is a famous Opera.  At least famous enough that someone (me) who's never seen an opera before knows of it.  Still, I don't think it is as good as the 3 above.
COOK - This is a weak link and probably can be discarded.

HOOK and BILL are really clear picks for me.  Then it comes between HAM and OPERA.  I lean HAM right now.

*Bolt - This is a tricky clue for me since I have a lot of experience in slaughterhouses, where they butcher ANIMALS and little to no time in meat markets/departments where they butcher MEAT. That said, in the former instance animals are hit with a captive bolt gun. This is probably a pretty out-there connection, but it's hard for me to un-see and for me it's very direct. It's getting older now but for a while captive bolt guns had some mainstream attention via their use as the villain's preferred weapon in the film No Country for Old Men.
*Ham - You'd buy a ham from a butcher.
*Hook - Cuts of meat and certainly slabs of beef are hung by hooks.
*Cook - Butchers don't themselves cook but the meat they butcher ends up being cooked.
