Its been 4 days with no response - I know that your 4 man team has to draft, edit, revise, update and settle on a final version so I guess that this process is still ongoing.

Anyway, I have some news that I can share with you ... the civilization to your West is Exploit.

Also, my capital culture grew last turn so I will have additional map size information that will share with you later tonight.

My capital expanded last turn. I now control 37 tiles (or 0.91% of the map).

9 tiles = 0.22% or between 4000 and 4186
21 tiles = 0.52% or between 4000 and 4077
37 tiles = 0.91% or between 4043 and 4088

So, the range of land tiles is between 4043 and 4077.

Assuming 1% water gives a range of 4083 to 4118.
Assuming 2% water gives a range of 4125 to 4160.
Assuming 3% water gives a range of 4168 to 4203.

The only sizes between 4050 and 4225 that give integer dimensions are:

4080 - 17 x 15
4096 - 16 x 16
4160 - 26 x 10, 20 x 13
4224 - 24 x 11, 22 x 12

I really think this map is square, so I am going to call the map size as 15 x 17 or 16 x 16.

I would prefer mined grassland hill worked to mined plains hill, although if the latter has riverside while the former does not I'd say they're about even. Both are better than pre-granary whips unless the latter gets a city that otherwise would not be settled.

Getting the warrios built and exploring can be worth it even if it's not strictly optimal in the micro sense. Recon, diplo concerns, and locating city sites are also priorities. Plus there's a slight aversion to going after someone who gets a higher power graph early .

If you can swing the diplo I'd probably build more workers/settlers at pop 2 working corn + silver while chopping to aid expansion. If you need military the city can grow while producing it and work the mines.

Enough cities is the goal of course. If we can claim sites ASAP without damaging alliance negotiations, even better (aka screwing people somewhat w/o them perceiving it as such is ideal).

The tech pace for this game seems broken. We have a worker sitting around doing nothing? He could have farmed a grassland river tile but that seemed like a waste of time so I moved him to a riverside plains hill. Now he has to sit there for 3 turns enjoying the view. Any other suggestions?



We have two warriors out exploring and a 3rd under construction. Note that we have met the Inca (to our capital's east) and we are starting diplomatic relations. I should be able to keep up with the diplo and will post it here.

Warrior exploring between us and India - suggest he uncovers the fog but heading SW then looping North so that he runs around the western side of that little lake.



Our other warrior is heading SE. I was planning on just general exploring with him (out and never come back) in a generally south eastern direction (I typically do big zigzags but what ever you think is ok by me. Mind you, he probably will not be there next turn ...



As I mentioned above, tech is really slow. Here is our current path (green) or an alternative path to speed up tech (yellow). I'd prefer to stay on green.



I would suggest a monestary as the next build after the current warrior - we get a very slight bump in beakers that will help a little bit.

Congratulations on founding Buddhism. That Buddha guy always looks like he enjoys food!

You are the first nation we have met and are located somewhat to your east. Perhaps you could help direct us to meet the others you have mentioned? Who are they specifically?

As for our intentions we seek to be peaceful yet recognize the potential power that lies within your sacrificial rites. If we could arrange for our great nations to enjoy each others company we might be able to share in those rites and plunder and pillage the world together. What do you think?

So far, I have met India (to my West) and Exploit (further West). To the best of my knowledge, both of those teams only know me.

Yes - I have discovered Buddhism and he does like food. Would you be interested in a missionary? I would happily sell you one once I can build them and depending on other Aztec requirements.

How many hammers does a monestory cost? 60? And a missionary? 30? I would happily sell a missionary (delivered to my borders) for a worker. Sure, the missionary / worker hammers don't balance but I have to amortize the cost of my monestory, the opportunity cost of building the missionary and they get happy benefits - I think that is fair.
