Jowy - Peter of Egypt (Green Game)

State of the Empire!!
- Turn 75 -

Aight, so game's been a bit dull after the war ended. Sure it's fun to see my once doomed empire now rise up, but where's the excitement?! Well, I assure you, if I see an opening to stir some shit up, I'll take it! That's pretty much my only chance to win, anyway. I've been trying to slowly drive Seifer's and Kyan's blocs in conflict.. I believe atm. that Seifer got atleast Malakai on his side, and Cull sure fears Kyan but I don't know if he wants to join up with those two. Kyan on the other hand has Strike/TT in his pocket. The biggest problem is that everyone seems to be pretty damned depressed by Kyan's might, so not sure if they'll even give it a shot. Or even want to, as far as I've seen Kyan's very good with diplo too. Anyway, if they do decide to do something about Kyan, I might say I'm gonna join in but a much better thing to do is to declare on either Strike/TT or Seifer and use the opportunity to catch up to Kyan.

Anyways, here's a recent dotmap and some city screens for your enjoyment.

I've also got space for like 3-4 cities in the southeast corner, and perhaps one more north of Phoenix depending on Seifer's city placement there ('least he told me I could claim land around the rivers). Blue dot is about to be planted.

Anima's been pumping out Settler + Buddhist Missionary combos and earlier on some workers (which it might switch to again if needed).

Shiva's built a granary and a worker post war. Will probably whip a worker here soon'ish since it's only got 4 improved tiles.

Alexander's pigs and copper are being improved atm, then the wheat. It'll be a good production and commerce hybrid.

Poor Phoenix only has one worker out there, I'm currently finishing up the road between Phoenix and Anima with it, waiting for the border pop so I can improve those cows. Should probably whip a worker here soon.

Here are the ah-so-depressing demos. I think I'm doing a pretty good job compared to RB2 considering that I was rushed early on by #1 military power while only having a warrior and a WC myself. Still got alot of catching up to do and looking at those pitiful numbers it looks like an impossible thing to accomplish, but let's check back after I've planted the rest of the cities and got them up and running. Afterall the others can't really expand much more without war, which in turn will slow them down.

Tech wise I researched Construction for cats, and now Feodalism for Longbows. I wasn't kidding about strengthening those defenses regardless of the NAP. Maybe I'm safe and would be better off teching something like Currency, but I really don't feel like taking another gambit after the failure that is early this game lol

Thx Wyrm! Let's see what I can do! smile

I don't usually post diplo, but this one caught my interest. First off, I don't really think Kyan is as close to Cull/Malakai as to call it an alliance, and I don't think he'd attack me or Seifer over his neighbours, but it's an interesting scenario if it happens. At the least this will be a good opportunity to strenghten my relationship with Seifer, who I was close with early game but then kinda faded out for a while.

Quote:Hi Jowy, how's things?

I'm sure you won't be unhappy with my city placements. I noticed you haven't put down any further cities for awhile whereas TT's has got to seven! I'll be there at seven shortly and maybe more depending on what happens elsewhere in the next dozen turns. My gut feeling is that you have a bit of trouble about to head your way... Our diplomacy has been a bit slower lately than I would have liked and I can't remember exactly what I've mentioned to you. It looks like Kyan has struck up a deal with Cull, Malakai and I'm guessing TT as well to spread his religion into their lands in return for half the gold his shrine brings in from it being there. I caught a glimpse of his missionary in Cull's capital so I expect him to convert soon. I also managed to catch a glimpse (talk about being at the right place at the right time) of Kyan's chariot escorting a Great Prophet from TT to his lands. He'll have that shrine soon then and almost guarantees an alliance (well a vote of confidence that Kyan won't attack them) with Cull, Malakai and TT. Now I'm sure you've been keeping an eye on his growing power score and I imagine it's growing for one reason, that is to attack someone. I think that's you or me and I hate to say it but you're looking a tad more vulnerable right now. You are closer to him geographically (and TT who he might attack through) and your score and city number doesn't exactly flatter you. As before I would like to offer any assistance I could if this happened (and maybe you'd feel compelled if the situation is reversed) so make sure you keep in contact with me. I can't say any of this WILL happen for sure (it's purely a gut feeling) but we should really be prepared to handle it just in case. That's all for now!

From Me to Seifer in reply:
Quote:Heya,

The possible alliance sounds worrying. I might have caused Malakai to flip on "their side", as you might have noticed I leaked some confidential info in the IT thread after he had officially quit the game, but then he decided to come back. It's a really unfair situation, but I'm happy we atleast got the game back up.

I've been teching for defense ever since ending the war. I've got cats and will soon have longbows. That should be enough to defend myself unless it's a PB2 CoW -esque attack. If that's truly Kyan's strategy, it makes all sense in the world.. He aligns himself with the weakest players, then uses those to slow down or eliminate the stronger players. He won't even have to put himself to danger, and as a payoff he pretty much quarantees his victory as there'll be no-one left to challenge him! Sounds very, very grim for us all (even Cull/Malakai/TT even though they might not understand it).

But I doubt it'll be that simple. We should just concentrate on defending. As long as we've got eachother's backs, we'll be succesful in that. I'm open for all kinds of shared military operations between us, though we've gotta see what happens (if something happens) before we can really plan in detail. I agree that we should just be prepared for now. I think the most important thing is that neither of us lets the enemy cross through our lands to attack the other!

We'll have to wait and see how things evolve, but this definately ain't the end yet. A skilled veteran could pretty much secure a 100% victory in Kyan's situation, but we're all greens smile

BTW, even though this is kind of a no-brainer, would you like to officially renew our NAP for like 100 turns? I don't remember when our current one ends, but it should be fairly close by now.

Sorry for not keeping in contact much.. For about two months I was busy with exams (I'm not sure what's the english equivalent for them, but these particular ones are the most important ones in Finnish school system). On top of that, not much has happened since my little war! But I'll try to keep in touch more often.

Here's an updated dotmap for the southeast. I'd definately like to settle the lime and red dots fairly soon. Perhaps even next!

So I will have atleast 8 more cities to come, perhaps I can squeeze another between Phoenix and Seifer's borders. That'll get me up to 12 or 13 cities.. Not too shabby!

Why not 1 west for lime?

So it can work the iron. With 3 plains hills, 1 grassland hill, 1 iron and a free hammer from settling on a plains hill for production, wheat + riverside tiles for food, it should make for a good production city.

I've signed two new NAP's:
- 50 turns with Kyan
- 50 turns with Seifer + possibly extra clauses to help eachother in war time

I didn't plan them to end at the same time, I actually suggested a longer NAP to both but they came back with 50 turns. That's normally a bad idea considering they might be my two neighbours by then, but I think I've got some tricks up my sleeve to secure atleast a fair warning before a dogpile. But seriously, I've done something *horribly* wrong diplomatically if two of my closest friends dogpile me lol.

In addition, I have that NAP with Strike/TT (about 35 turns left, I guess?). So I can now pretty safely fill my lands and try to catch up with the others. I wish I could just war all day, it'd be way more entertaining, but if I want to actually benefit from a war I first need to grow bigger to gain an edge.

I was ready for the BBC voice over guy but he didn't come forward! alright

Nice video - why are you giving cow and pigs to Kyan?

The song was a cover of Hey ya by Outkast.. I don't know who is doing the cover though...
