I've had the wraith thing happen to me before - in my self-play multiplayer game. All it took me was an unlucky loss to a skeleton, followed by a not even all that unlucky loss to a spectre, and I was in just the same situation. Although I had only 2 cities in that game.

I'd have survived, except that the wraith teamed up with a hero-levelled up Orthus and a whole lot of Samheim frostlings, as well as coming on the back of a slow start due to a named ogre popped from a nearby lair by a rival. Oh and playing Dain of the Amurites so no early advantages to work with either.

He'll survive, he just needs to build a lot of warriors in the two core cities and hold out until pyre zombies. It'll be a huge setback for his development though.

Hmm, seems sciz may be in a bit of trouble now too. Seems barb cities are giving everybody quite a challenge.

Ichabod may whinge about not being able to quickly snap up barb cities, but at least his development will be faster without a need to spam warriors to defend his core. Then when Ratine comes online he can expand without issue.

The one problem is though that everyone else is going to have highly promoted units from all the barbs whereas Ichabod will have few things to train his units up on.

This game is going to be a slog for the forseeable future for most players. The hit squads will continue to come but once they have 4 warriors in defence, they really aren't a threat. even two hitting at once is quite easy to defend against.

Selrahc's situation is worsened obviously by the Wraith making his break-out of the early game much harder but having said that - he needs only to make it to BW to really start pushing the barbs back.

Sciz thought he was in real trouble but he survived with no losses. he must have gotten some pretty good xp out of that and so should be better placed for the next wave.

If I were in this game I would be holding tight trying to get some semblance of economy going with my current cities and teching to BW, spamming axes and attacking the barbs. Maybe head to Warfare early for conquest and Agrarianism since there will likely be a few losses. once the barbs are down a few cities it will be a lot easier and the real econ-game can start.

Ichabod's pick of the clan is really really good. I thought his complaint about not being able to take the cities early enough with Rantine was a little off sicne I'm not sure he had considered what the others were facing. If he thought that the map was going to be a case of build Rantine = lots of cities then i'm sorry! He seems like a good player and I'm sure as time goes on he will realise what the others are going through.

Ultimately this game is going to be an "extreme" PBEM but hey ho. Enjoy it! I am enjoying lurking it! If someone happens to go out to barbs then I hope that they will see the fight in it and have still enjoyed the game.

Selrahc is suffering pretty badly now. If that wraith finishes him off then goes after somebody else and delivers another deathblow it would make for the most amusing MVB in a PBEM.

Been wondering how may civs would be wiped out / irrepairably damaged if Statis got set off around now

I think ichbad can pillage/expore graveyards so maybe he set off the wraith then oh crap. shhh

Its not like he is keeping his tread up to date. rolleye

@Jkaen Almost everyone is my guess. Ichbad would be fine and the illians whoever they are would be find until the barbarian started garthering because he was the only target left.

My guess is the illians won't donate their statis to the barbs seeing as how they are geting screwed over and don't want people quiting because they are to burried in shit.

So, does anyone actually know where the spectre that became the wraith came from? I'm following all the threads, and I see no-one talking about popping a spectre from a centre-map graveyard, nor anyone talking about a combat loss to a skeleton. From what I read Selrahc talks about the loss to a spectre that lead to the wraith, but not where the spectre came from.
