Football Manager 2010 SG talk

Ichabod Wrote:I support the idea of forum member nicknames. Since we are using non real players, it won't make a difference, in my opinion.

I'll take a look at the players you guys posted this evening. It'll help me to get a clue about what the LLM good players look like. You went through the unattached player list in the search function to find this guys, TT? Did you use any other filters?

I'll try to find some players later too. Maybe sign a brazilian wonderkid lol.

I simply viewed each different set of attributes and set them in descending order so all the good crossers/finishers/tackler etc are at the top.

@Brian - nearly all the ones I recommended I trialed/signed so I could see their full stats.

I managed to sign a lot of players on their wages & was considerably over wage budget. I think it may be worth it for people like Ratten & Morar as their resale value will offset their wages eventually & their quality could win us a lot of games & possibly get us to a ludicrous 3rd round FA Cup tie if we get good draws.

I'd push the wage budget as far as we can go - I wouldn't think twice about going a couple of thousand over for a vastly increased chance of promotion/cup run/ couple of high-value transfers

I guess I'd agree with pushing the wage budget, worst case scenario is we get sacked and we don't have any reputation to lose!

I had a big long post written about finances and actually they are not in a too bad shape. If the game goes by averages from last year (and we don't balls up too bad) then we should get an average of roughly 3,200 at each home gate. Taking out the 2,200 who've already stumped up the £200 season ticket price that should give us £14,000 per home gate (@ave £14 per ticket), which is £6,000 over the budget for the wages. 23*£14,000=£322,000 which is roughly equal to our current bank balance.

Now I would'nt buy every one of those players, as we could probably get near as good as some of those as loans for nothing (including wages) if we're clever.

I know you regard Towa but with stats of 5/6 accl/pace, he's probably not going to do very much for us. His physical stats in general are pretty manky, no stamina, no natural fitness, will mean that he spends a lot of time on the bench or physio's table. I'd much rather take Ryan Duffy the 17y.o. Dundee forward I looked at on loan for the season @ 16/16 he'll get into lot's of good positions, and even if his other stats are bad (I know his passing is rank) he has good enough finishing to put at least some of them away.

Well I'm not going to play this tonight so it's still up for discussion.

Brian - have you adjusted the budgets?

Just checking in game now - we can get reassign nearly all our transfer money & get a wage budget of £10,500 pw

This would allow us to sign some more of the unattached players I suggested & we aren't going to find better quality players if we maintain our transfer budget!

We simply must do this!

Also - Offer Bangura (super coach) £400pw as a Youth Coach. He will accept it. We can use him to help scout & it may be easier to promote him to the role we want once we have signed him!

A triple post but you will all adore me for it when you see what I have found.

I have found 2 players available on frees who will make us millions!

On an expired Youth contract at St Mirren. Transfer listed with £0 asking price. Offer that & is accepted. Offer him contract of ~£1k pw wage plus whatever else they ask for.

When he signs (which he will quickly!) - he will start on £5 pw youth contract with provisional agreement to sign the contract we offered. Offer a new contract & he will ask for ~£500pw wage and will accept it going up to £1,100 pw when he plays 20 games

MUST SIGN 10000000%

Same thing - available on transfer list at £0 from Queen of the South.

Will demand ~£700 pw contract but again is provisional & starts on £5 pw.

Offer new contract once signed & he will demand - £140 pw with raise to £400 after 20 league games

MUST SIGN 100000000%

Will look for more

And I have found more!

Same as the others - wants around £850 pw to sign. Not beenable to renegotiate any lower yet but should be alright either way. Will sign (like others) quickly & contract is until 2013.

Another really promising player, though at LB we could skip him if we wanted - strikers are a slightly bigger priority.

Older but same kind of thing. On transfer list at £0 from Fola Esch. As you can see he only wanted £400 pw for this & is rated better than our other CBs.

DEFINITE BUY

St Mirren letting youngsters go again! Same as others but only negotiated down to £400pw wage for full time contract. May be slightly weak but he has good mental stats for someone so young & could prove very useful or simply profitable.

Definitely worth a punt!

In spoiler is scout report which says he has potential to be a LEADING PREMIER LEAGUE DEFENDER!!!!

Available for nothing (from St Mirren again!) and only wants £450pw wages

MUST SIGN

A LEADING PREMIER LEAGUE FULL BACK (from St Mirren). Same process again but only wanted £300pw!!

MUST SIGN

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know we already have some great goalies but beat this guy! Superb for one so young - available on a free with wages of £700 - a little expensive but worth it in my eyes!

MUST SIGN

Some welcome experience in midfield here. Available free from Differdange. Wants £650 pw wage but could be worth it. Given we could get some others cheaper like Duvalier, he may not be 100% essential.

V Good Signing

Some other frees to look at without screenies:

Simon Bah - (Better & pacy version of Duvalier - only wants £450 pw)
Vincent Marques - Even better & high potential but expensive!

Found 1 more super player too

He has amazing stats and will be truly awesome - same process except that he is from Inverness instead. You have to offer him aroun £1.1k pw to get him but that can be negotiated down to £550 like this:

Last one I promise!

Managed to negotiate Ratten down to £550 pw who then is a lot better than our best right winger and has the potential to be up near Premiership level too!

I think I may have done some valuable scouting today - if only university essays were such fun!

Stop making the game too easy, TT lol

On a more serious comment, you really found a lot of very good players. We can climb a few divisions with the potential of these guys. I'll make some similar searches today (yesterday was a too busy day). It seems that is not against the SG to pass some time in the save to see if the players are good or not, so I'll do it too.

I'll try to look in another countries to find good players. Of course, only from communitary nationalities, since I don't think we'd be able to get a work permit being in the division that we are.
