I'm loving this map, really I am, but would it be too much to ask for horses somewhere in my Sphere of Influence lol? I certainly have enough deer!

With the empire getting large I was hoping I could build some reasonably fast units (3 move horsemen with potential for mobility) but alas, I'll have to find some other way to defend the 10+ city sites I plan to found...

Okay, I'm done whinging now lol

Well, the elf horse archer equivalents require deer instead of horses so those would certainly be an option

I know that :P. But that's 2 - 3 more techs (one rather expensive) away, whilst I was kind of hoping to be able to tech horseback riding (relatively affordable) and just build myself a quick-response force that way, instead of having to resort to expensive (and slower) hunters and fawns.

In other words: Not having horses is a short-term problem that will eventually go away when I get stirrups and can build Fyrdwells. Until then though, it means I don't have horse-units if the Hippus decide to get frisky.

Diplo dumped at the correct point in the thread (posts 68 & 69) as they come in order. Mr. Yellow and I tend to chat and I don't have the transcripts from when I was at work.

They're brown, they have four legs...close enough!

Ok, ok, maybe one or two details were overlooked.

Ravus Wrote:[COLOR="Orange"]Not heard from you in awhile so I though I would drop you a line. I did notice that
you now have contact with the Vampires so I hope you have been able to milk them
for more information then I could. The Amurites have not responded to my own
letters ever since they gained contact with the Vampires.

Congratulations on getting up FoL. I've been focusing on Warrens and have 3 online
next turn. About to start on some double Settlers, workers and so on. This should
along with my top production should allow me some adaptability. I'm also currently
researching priesthood and should have a GP to bulb Runes next turn.

I've noticed the Hippus Power starting to rise. In our recent talks he has been probing...
I don't want to influence your decisions with the specifics. After all it's mostly what people
"don't" state that gives away their desires. So I just thought I would caution you to keep
an eye on him and make up your own mind.

Sareln Wrote:[COLOR="Green"]Hi Ravus,

Yeah, I've been busy prepping a poster for my Prof. to present at a
conference. I'm sitting here in lab waiting for simulations to finish
so I can talk now.

Mackoti has been generally cool to me, and hasn't shared much
information. I did share some specifics on what make the Amurite a
ticking time-bomb, even for vampires. Hopefully he got the message,
but it's hard to tell with the language barrier. My scout has found a
mostly impassable barrier of mountains between Amurite and Vampire
lands so far, and I'm probably going to lose him to a griffon or bear
next turn, so mage contact is delayed. Also, gratz' on the warrens.

Mr. Yellow offered to send a putative expedition to vampire lands to
try and do a contain. I was cool to the idea, mostly because I think
that a) it wouldn't work, b) requires letting Hippus riders through my
lands and in reasonable stabbing locations and c) even if it did work
and the vampires are either set back or wiped out, all of a sudden I'm
between his army and its fresh reinforcements. Not exactly a pretty
picture you'know? Call it paranoia, but I don't trust him enough for
that. There's still a huge chunk of land between the two of us to
settle though, so I don't see why'd he'd waste time with a horseman
level push for what would eventually be a slow grind if I'm forewarned
and prepared.

I'll take your advice to heart though, and make sure I've got hawks
and hunters keeping a proper lookout.

Strategic wise, do I have copper in my sphere? I just got AH and
noticed that I have no horses and was wondering if there were any
other surprises waiting for me on the resource front. More map
information should be trickling in over the turns, should probably ask
for map-swaps in case I forget. I've got an active hunter/hawk pair
towards the vamps, and an active hunter in Hippus territory that I
need to stock with a hawk. Land is pretty dry, but it looks like the
map-maker has tried to make up for it with an abundance of food
resources.

Not quite sure, I'd have to think about what a reasonable bee-line
would cost and how quickly Amelia could put it all together. I'll get
back to you on that, but if I had to ball-park shot-in-the-dark, I'd
say T150 at the latest.

I think we can work something out, though Amelia is rather far from
me, we'll figure something out.

Thanks, I was about to use the scientist automatically for an academy
but then realized that most of my tiles would get +0/1/1 from the
Golden age and I wouldn't have to eat 2 turns of anarchy for religion
and civics switches. After the GA ends, I imagine that I'll fall
behind your aristofarms, but we'll see.
