Really Relay Cryptic Puzzles

Hooray! jive

I spend a lot of time thinking the answer would be

et tu, brute?

because the letters you get from the resource tiles using the ternary number thing from the start of the puzzle are:

2 "e"s (desert hill incense and tundra hill gold), 3 "t"s (grassland incense), an "r" (tundra bananas), a "v" (rice) and an "h" (the plains hill dyes).

So we had at least: et tv _r_te with a spare "h" -> I spent a lot of time thinking about how I could make it fit... Guess I was looking at the wrong quote

But novice and zakalwe were the ones who did the heavy labor. I just stole the glory by camping the thread after SevenSpirits last comment. So they can go ahead and post another puzzle.

Go ahead and post one, Ichabod. (if you want to)

I doubt I would have made that final connection. smile
If you know what I mean.

An enchanted disease needs to operate a slice away. (3,5,5)

This is my first try to make one of these, so I apologize for any mistake.

I'll post a hint, because it's more of a fixing of a mistake than anything. I think you can hadle this without it, but I don't want to make you waste time because I didn't follow the usual puzzle rules.

The word that defines the whole answer is kind of hidden in there. I don't think it's usual to do it like this, so it's better to warn everyone.

I've been thinking about this one but haven't made much progress. I'm still very unsure about how to parse it. It might well be a dead end but I have noted that
an enchanted disease might be a spell

Looking forward to a hint. smile

Can you clarify this hint? Do you mean

There is a straight definition but it's not at the beginning or the end of the clue
or something different?
