Anyone on board, we're setting sail for distant and faraway lands where there's no such thing as huts and RANDOM EVENTS!

Ah, but we don't really need him for such things as changing Falamar's traits, or disabling mithril weapons on axes and chariots. Each of those changes involves a single line in one of the XML files.
Drawbacks: again, everyone has to grab the updated file and put it in the right place. What do we change, and will it introduce new balance issues?

Huts, lairs and events. I've minor preference having them on
Diplo thread - Yes. As it is impossible to keep it without affecting to the game I propose we allow minor diplomatic interaction there. However no deal suggestions or coordinating attacks. One can generally suggest dogpiling someone, but not to mention time schedules etc.
City gifting only permanently works for me.
No duplicate civs. It is nice to see a bigger variety of them.
No updated xmls. Pure 0008. If 0009 gets ready before we've map, then I'm ok switching there.

Oh damn it, too late.
You can always join us. I'm sure our team wouldn't mind a backup player.
As for the discussion:
No Lairs or Huts
No Duplicate civs
Indifferent about diplo thread
No temp city gifting
No XML changes, with 12 people there's bound to be some issues. If 0009 gets released before we start we can switch to that.
Can events be turned off? I don't think they can be.

No. Some of the civ-specific stuff (Khazad vaults, Luchuirp Barnaxus-based golem promotions, Perpentach insanity, Adaptive trait changes, etc.) is handled via events.

What specifically do you mean by this? Is it ok, for example, for the Clan to found a city, build a Warrens, then gift it?

Hmmm, that could be a problem since I doubt UB's disappear when gifted in team games. Since Elohim have Tolerant, I think they could possibly be an exception, but otherwise I'll agree with you on no city gifting.

Quote:I would personally vote no, I'd rather either go to the extreme of allowing complete duplicates, or none. I'm not really sure how heroes and worldspells work when there's more than one civ of the same kind, but if we're going to find out anyway, might as well allow the best leaders to anyone. Not too bothered if the vote goes against me, though.
Worldspells can be doubled. Heroes can not be. If the Illians were allowed, they wouldn't be allowed to double their rituals either.
Also... you guys should consider allowing Illians on the condition that they don't cast their worldspell. Unless you all have some problem with the Civ itself.
