I think black channel must get +1 to hit. You can choose do not include this. Also i update the previous post.

Huh. I'll have to check on that. Black Channels is a problem spell, but not because of +1 to hit; it's a problem because it's overpowered on trolls and useless on everything else. I wonder if letting death creatures heal 'naturally' would solve some of the issues with death.
Heh. Now when you cast heroism out of combat, it shows up as +1 level on the display, but actual stats are for Elite (however, hero skills are correct for level).

I think: the black channel is useless on else, becouse it is a weak spell. I look at it as a death variant of heroism. Also, even death war trolls is stoped one-by-one by dispel evil spell or ability or petrify... ets.
Heroism: the overland heroism is translated into in-combat spell, and this is work different on heroes. So, i'll post update soon for this case.

No, it's not a hero-specific bug (hero skills seem to work, actually). A simple unit of swordsmen show up as Regulars -- with 5 attack, +1 to hit, and 2 life per counter (as a side note: heroism has always been slightly broken -- just using vanilla code, if you have Warlord or Crusade and cast it overland your troops wind up Super-Elite. If you cast it in combat they wind up Elite. It also doesn't boost hero skills if cast in combat, though it will if cast out of combat).

The Hero skills depend on the heroism overland, not in the combat.The unit hitpoints depends on the separate procedure. This is the behaviour in the vanilla.

So, here's a curio question based on discussion on another board: where are the valid targets for volcano stored? Someone wanted to be able to raise or lower land, and while there's no spell to convert terrain into water, there is one to create a volcano.

This is hardcoded and not easy way. Also, there are lot of changes must be done to make this. For example: the number of continents and e.t.s. , diplomathy issues .. . So, its very hard to program this correctly.
