It really saddens my heart that in the 12 hours since posting it, no one has come forward recognizing what was truly one of the great masterpieces of our time.
Maybe that's just it - it was a masterpiece of Waterbat's time, maybe not OUR time. Yes, Waterbat is now an aged pirate - a shadow of his once swashbuckling self.
Waterbat volunteers for the job of the cranky old ex-pirate captain who tells stories of the times when pirates weren't pussies cats. Tales when aspiring privateers had to type their game programs into their computers before playing them. Tales when he battled over the chess board with the dreaded captain 80-086 and won. Tales of desperately taping over the notches in ye ol' floppy disks to win the heart of a fair maiden save game file.
Yes, Instead of retiring to a life fitting of the great wealth and booty acquired though-out his adventures, he contines to sail each season, chasing the fleeting dream of finding the fountain of youth.
Hoist the Colours and come about, ye Sid Meier's PIRATES! Let us go take what is there for the for taking, bed us some beautiful wenches, and conquer the world (or Commodore's version of it)
I did recognize it as Sid Meier's Pirates, for what it's worth. Should have asked if anyone got the connection before posting the answer :neenernee
Still, it was quite clever!

haha!
Sorry guys I get a little emotional when it comes to the original Sid Meier's Pirates! It will always be, for me, the best gaming experience of my life - even if it was in dazzling 16 colors. Of course, the nostalgia has warped my memories of it
*Notice that I said "original" and not its Civ V equivalent sequel.
So who's thread should we raid first?

I guess I'll stop abstaining on one point: I'd vote for sequential turns rather than simultaneous. If a game has to end, I'd rather it end by people gradually losing interest than dying in a flamewar. Plus, with this crowd, I don't really expect slow to be an issue.

Yeah, with this site and these players I seriously doubt we will have the game die due to lack of interest. I mean, oledavy was able to keep a single team going by himself last time there was a sequential pitboss, so we know this team is good

So, uh, what did I miss? I'm probably going to have to sit out most of the pregame, unfortunately.
More people have been to Berlin than I have.

If everyone is allowed to grab a financial leader, then we can just spam cottages and the pyramids are kinda weak, so stone should be placed nearby. If FIN is banned, (or restricted to only weak leaders like Wang Kon) the pyramids become extremely powerful, and we should make a strong effort to grab them.
Excellent point. I edited our preferred settings post to reflect this.

I agree. Should definitely make it a priority in this game - especially if we end up with Marble

Team Gilette, they're being the most annoying.

Pssh, couldn't have finished that game without Shoot and WK. We were a team, and that doesn't really do justice to their contributions.

This thread isn't that long. However, he's what we need to address at the moment:
- I've posted in the Forum Access Thread that we prefer B, as that seems to be the consensus. If anyone has any severe objections to that, speak now or forever hold your peace.
- There's a pretty strong movement towards switching to Sequential turns in the general thread, StM already posted in there. I've been swayed by some of the arguments put forward there and would now like to see this game played as a sequential turns PB. Seems I am not alone in that. Does anyone have any strong objection to switching our vote from Concurrent Turns to Sequential?

Sequential can work tbh.. PB6 was moving along at a good pace right? We have only one more team this time around, and all teams are a lot larger and probably only managing a single Civ. That should pretty much guarantee that the turns will keep moving at a good pace.
