Interest in a new pbem?

What about PBEM13(?) diplo - where you could communicate through the ctrl-tab interface. Any interest in that? I do like there being diplo, but full out of game diplo just results in a massive timesink

I like the system we use in PBEM37. Basically, only exchange of brief proposals allowed. Has taken up very little time, and it seems to be working okay for us. Not going to lobby for it as I have little stake in this game, but I think it matches rego's criteria. System itself can be simplified a lot, we've changed it some throughout the game.

I think land connection between capitals is important, otherwise naval strategy will not be as important as land strategy, it'll be much more important. I'm also not very keen the idea of the start of the game being all about who can sandbox his starting continent better. I would also prefer a non-symetrical map (this is probably a no-go for some players, so i wouldn't mind not having it, it's just my preference).

That being said, I'm unsure of how this can be achieved in a map.

Besides, I'm going with however the map ends up being, so I wouldn't mind conceeding the point to anyone with a stronger wish for any option.

Regarding picks, I'd be up for some bans in order to make things more diverse. No idea about how we can do this, though.

No opinion on scout/warrior start.

*What people think about using normal speed? My experience comparing Pitboss 7 and PBEM 38 is that normal speed allows for more viable strategies. Things happen too fast on quick. Is this a deal breaker for anyone or can it be discussed?

How about Marathon?!! :P

I could go for this. Being able to talk is nice, and this would limit communication to one exchange per turn. I do worry about NAPs with any type of diplo, but maybe it's good enough to warn people of the perils of NAPs

My preference is definitely AI-diplo only.

I prefer AI Diplo.

Catwalk's system, while clever, is just a bit too Byzantine for me wink.

If we are going AI diplo, I want dibs on the Morse Code naming scheme for my cities.

Excellent point about land connection affecting strategy. So we should have all capitals connected by land.

I would also prefer a more "natural looking map", but i wasn't sure that would be the consensus here. I think pbem26 was very good in that regard: similar location of resources & landmasses, but it wasn't exactly symmetrical.

Not sure about the diplo differences, but I enjoy talking to people. :dunno:

EDIT: Also, naval focus would be awesome.

Naval Focus probably means no dutch and no vikings iirc?
