Surely you've read enough of my threads by now to know that I fill them with hyperbole in the interest of complaining :P
I still wouldn't have gave in, but yes Dave is obviously not actually scared of AI Hyborem. FFS, he beat Thoth and Plako in a PBEM. But Dave is overall a cautious and conflict-averse player, so let me have my fun and pretend that an AI scares him, which fits my narrative that he's too meek to take the initiative and attack TBS, while I hypocritically hide behind my borders and accept friendship trades

PS: I am being serious though when I say that I'm not sure what game he's playing. I understand that TBS has super-scary demographics in every category, but Dave really is running a very low power & has been for a long time now. I'm not sure what path he sees to victory if he's not going to bother building a real army as Averax. I can't do a whole heck of a lot against TBS if I don't have Dave attacking from the other side, and Dave isn't going to attack from the other side if he doesn't have a genuine army to invade with. He's probably waiting for me to make a move first, too
Oh btw, am I the only person who started with a meta node? Because it doesn't look like Dave or TBS (or ex-Tholal) have one, and I can see at least all of Dave's cities...

I definitely intended to give everyone a meta node. At this point though, I'm not prepared to give a definitive answer before checking the WBsave, I could have screwed that up too... :rollseye:
I do get that, but I think its good to verbalise what you mean more (especially in the context of players reading the thread post-game).

Hey, don't roll your eyes in my thread! If you actually intended to give everyone a meta node and then only I got one (which means 1 less strength on all my spectres) then you genuinely made a serious mistake and every complaint I ever made in this thread is retroactively justified (I always knew there was something wrong- just not what)!

Eh, I often conclude my threads by apologizing for everything in them.

Or more likely it means you got one extra mana on everyone, just typed.
I'm not sure how much of that is sarcasm, but my point is that I'm defending a map that I can't actively defend as well as any player can attack, because I don't have it in front of me (I switched computers a while back) and, well, it gets tiresome. And you're not even the worst.
Whatever. Mapmaking is like playing, except every mistake you make is irreversible by the time you realise it, and is shoved in each players face every single turn. I'm not sure why I bother.

Everything that makes me look like a dick is sarcasm, unless being sarcastic would make me appear even worse.
In all seriousness, like I've said a few times now this isn't a bad map at all. It is just a very slow map for whatever reason(s), and I just noticed the weird mana situation a couple turns ago (Dave and I have been exchanging maps every 20 turns or so, and he scouted most of Tholal and TBS's territory, including their capitals). I have no idea what any of superjim's land looks like, but I do know that Dave lacks Sorcery to dispel nodes, and all of his are just regular. Maybe I have an extra node? I'm not sure, I'll have to do a rough comparison next time I load a turn, IIRC though everyone has three obviously in the sphere of interest.
I realize you can't confirm, but I'm guessing that if you're getting map flack it has to do with the angels; Dave has a bunch of angels and crusaders marching around his back lines. I'm not really sure what to make of it TBH, besides relief that I apparently don't have any. Or maybe I originally did, and the AI did what AI so often do and behaved contrary to expectations and reason. But were I him, I'd probably be pretty annoyed about the Drill I-IV Herald marching around my borders, animal AI or not.
If TBS is bitching, tell him to suck it up, people with Double Land don't get to complain :P

You didn't upload the wbsave file anywhere for the lurker thread, or email it to anyone for review? If you did either of those things, it shouldn't be difficult to retrieve a copy...
And even if you didn't, your email account should still have a copy of the turn 0 save you sent to the first player. There won't be any passwords set yet, so you can load any of the civs in pitboss mode and play SP a bit to explore.
That probably wouldn't be a bad idea to do anyway before each game actually starts. If you simmed out the first 20-40 turns for each player, I'm sure you could catch a lot of the inevitable mapmaking errors before they're irreversible.

I have the map hanging around, just a pain to retrieve it (there's a version in the lurker thread, but its not the final one so I can't be sure. I especially adjusted it heaps on the final day). And I did catch a lot of errors while making this, and playing around with this, but unfortunately there are always more out there.
That was actually another thing I meant to say, that even if I do load the map, I can't tell you you're wrong or right on any case, because its spoiled knowledge.

Apologies whoever is lurking this for not having updated for a bit. You know how you'll be playing Risk or whatever and someone cashes out their cards to get a giant end-game army and suddenly things get very quiet? That's sort of the situation I'm in here, with Doomstacks being built and arrayed against each other in an increasingly tense Cold War with TBS, one which unfortunately I think I'm certain to lose if (when) it goes hot. I've been taking some screen caps, so I'll try to remember to post them eventually, although most are out of date and TBS has probably been reporting on my military via floating eyes in his own thread.
