[Spoilers] Pindicator accepts his fate

They're complaining about turn speed over in PB33, but I think we have them beat with 48 hour turns at the fastest part of the game...

Casual means slow, from experience.

Turn 002

Here's an interesting question:

So a city is definitely going to go in this area. Do you put it on the plains hill and orphan the whales? Or do you put it 1 tile north where it can get everything, but nothing in the first ring?

I think I lean towards orphaning the whales, get more land tiles in the BFC and you can work the camped deer right away.

Right up there with the PYFT tech that some of us still need to research...

IMHO the reason RtR economies without much cottage spam seeming strong to you has more to do with Mercantilism, Free Market, and Vassalage being buffed compared to BTS (the former two to be competitive with State Property).

it's true that BtS also isn't that diverse in terms of tile improvements, but I don't think going from "all cottages + slavery forever" to "all workshops and cottages in capital + caste/slavery forever" is that much of an improvement. given how focused on RtR is on making every last tiny change for balance you'd think something would be done about this.

The constant juggling of which econ civic is the most broken is also something I hate about RtR. Kind of feels like Krill was just throwing different benefits out there for each version and hoping one would stick...

Turn 003

It's good to get reminders that you should never make plans based off of assumptions about the map:

yikes

That's really close. As in Zalson has not yet played his turn close, which means his capital is at most 6 tiles away from this spot. Which means Zalson's capital is no more than 10 tiles away from our capital. Considering what we know about the total number of tiles and how that breaks down to a per-player level, then there's one of three possibilities:

1) There's a HUGE amount of off-shore islands to be discovered.
2) We've all been paired up close to one neighbor and far away from the others
3) I'm getting the short end of the stick in the map (oh please not this, not again) and my neighbors have huge amounts of room to expand while i have very little.

I'm going to give greenline the benefit of the doubt and cross off number 3

On the bright side, it's nice to know where my nearest neighbor is before the animals appear and eat my scout rolleye

There's also another big reveal on the map this turn, as borders expanded in our capital.

So we're in the middle of an isthmus. Anyone want to postulate gueses on how the world looks? Fishing & Sailing seem to be pretty key techs here.

Also, time to start a dossier on our neighbor, Zalson.

Crazy idea: what if we delay our first worker by 3 turns to get a warrior out?

Idea; we're on a ring with seas on both sides, lots of land inside and out.

I'll bet you an apple there's another on the other side.

Could be 1,2,3,4 rings.

If you do this, send it south?

To the best off my knowledge Zalson is pretty new to RB and our only real source of information seems to be this thread

Though my guess is that NylesStandish will be the primary turn player of those two. I can't help you much there, but go ahead and read his pb27 thread to form an opinion. I believe he might be fairly aggressive?? They're protective Aztecs so I guess we can expects huge amounts of whipping at least...

Why would you squeeze in an early warrior? Defense against the Aztecs beelining your cap or do you want to go aggressive straight away?

Oh, and I'm afraid I agree with Commodore that his ring map design suggestion seems fairly likely. Don't put of sailing too long.
