Your use of superlatives is WEAK!!! He will have the greatest naming scheme the world has ever seen!!! But I think the capital should have been called NO COLLUSION.

I lose bigly.

I see your Hope Hicks and raise you a Stephen Miller, the oldest looking 32 year old man in recorded history.  He makes Henry Kissinger look like a schoolboy.

I'm not sure what "NO COLLUSION" is all about; universal suffrage is at its strongest while under the influence of the Kremlin.

Wetbandit, Steven Miller is going to be worker B, in honor of his moniker given by the guys at Pod Save America: B+ Santa Monica Fascist Stephen Miller. It rolls nicely off the tongue, don't you think?

Coeurva, is this one of those In Soviet Russia jokes (The Russian Reversal)? Like "In Soviet Russia, intelligence counters You"? It certainly would seem that, at least from The Kremlin's perspective, our democracy has never functioned better.  rant

Names updated, and welcome to the world Steve Bannon, our culture warrior. pimp

I'll be out of town until Thursday but I'm bringing a laptop. We'll see if wi-fi cooperates.

In game, Bannon is going to do a little local scouting, staying close to the capital and engaging in clock-game shenanigans* to avoid getting Mortius'ed. My scout is still wandering south at .2 health, expecting/accepting an execution any day now. I am pretty detached when it comes to these units with these names and I look forward to seeing their names in red in the combat log. While this is not going to be very helpful in winning this game, it will be tremendously satisfying every time it happens. Let them come.  nod

Or, as Trump would say:

They've poisoned the minds of the voters, because names updated, and welcome to the world Steve Bannon, our culture warrior. I will build a great wall - and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me - and I'll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.

What I've seen, what I've seen is so bad, because I'll be out of town until Thursday but I'm bringing a laptop. By the way, I said, we'll see if wi-fi cooperates. To be honest with you, The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.

They've poisoned the minds of the voters, because in game, Bannon is going to do a little local scouting, staying close to the capital and engaging in clock-game shenanigans* to avoid getting Mortius'ed. But look, I think the only difference between me and the other candidates is that I'm more honest and my women are more beautiful.

Look, having nuclear - my uncle was a great professor; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, very good, very smart... my scout is still wandering south at .2 health, expecting/accepting an execution any day now. To be honest with you, I am pretty detached when it comes to these units with these names and I look forward to seeing their names in red in the combat log. I have a great relationship with the blacks. The people that are friends of mine that called to say, Donald, while this is not going to be very helpful in winning this game, it will be tremendously satisfying every time it happens. But I will say, let them come. By the way, Did you know, Hillary Clinton created ISIS.

This fucking translator really delivers. lol

*I kid, mostly.

It is a Civ4 joke because the Kremlin takes off 33% from rush-buying stuff, which Universal Suffrage enables. mischief Unrealistic in that it's disabled by Fiber Optics, though.

And you'd better build the Great Wall this game and go full Espionage Economy.

It's so obvious as soon as you explain the joke. bang Nice one.

I hadn't considered the Great Wall because it's usually not so great, but how can I pass this up? Espionage economy kind of fits the theme. I'll get the research but make someone else (MEXICO!) pay for it. I guess Rusten is my southern neighbor so does that make him Mexico? I suppose it does. WE'RE CLOSING THE BORDERS, FOLKS!

GermanJoey - (Eminem) ft.
Charlemagne The Burger King Guy (Imp/Pro) of Mongolia

Just gonna stand there
And watch me burn

But that's alright
Because I like
The way it hurts

Why Eminem? A couple reasons. First, like Eminem, Joey can be a bit, eh, combustible at times. We've seen several tech thread meltdowns and lots of feuding from Joey over the years. But, also like Eminem, Joey seems to have mellowed over time and, separate from his ability to take slight and spit fire as he vehemently beefs, he is also among the best in the rap game. He is a superior empire manager, good at micro, and has learned over the years when to make his move at the strategic level. His greatest weakness remains, in my view, a tendency toward tunnel vision, as he can get fixated on a conflict when, perhaps, it is no longer in his interest to have it continue. But this is much less likely than it used to be. Having won a recent game, I see no reason that Joey can't win this game too, as long as circumstances beyond his control aren't too detrimental to his cause.

Just gonna stand there
And hear me cry
But that's alright
Because I love
The way you lie
I love the way you lie

I like the way Joey has evolved his game. He has certainly grown as a player by playing many games. I would say we were pretty closely matched in PB18 but he is probably a better player now than me. I think he will have success in this game and, barring unforeseen external issues, should finish reasonably well, within the top 5. With this combo, a win would not be out of the question. nod

But if a win becomes impossible, some people just like to watch the world burn. Expect Joey to war forever if he's taken out of the running. Hope that you aren't nearby.

Civ/Leader

For this game, I'm not enamored of the fact that Joey again has Protective to lean on. He has commented in recent games, and this seems to bear out based upon results, that PRO has been undervalued and that it gives several passive buffs that are really hard to counter. First to the hill with a PRO archer wins the hammer exchange, and the first to the hill will be the guy with a fast granary and IMP (!) to churn out cheap settlers. Land is king, and this combo ensures that Joey will have more than his share when it comes time to fight for the scraps. And he'll be able to throw cheap cities further out on the map with less support due to PRO defenders, allowing spare hammers to, you guessed it, churn out more cheap settlers. And, as if this all wasn't good enough, these cities will set up faster due to the cheap granaries. All he has to do is keep his economy from crashing before Currency and he'll be golden. With the map being so big, cities will be cheap so the winning strategy is going to be expand as fast as possible and then build wealth until you've grown tall a bit. This is probably my favorite leader/civ combo in the entire game and it just happened to go to a highly competent opponent. I can only hope he has a couple quality, hostile neighbors. I'm a little salty, but not really. I'm fine with my combo and I don't have any expectations of a PB18 repeat. I'm not putting in that much time for a game ever again. nope

As for the civ, Mongolia is fine. Keshiks are good, Gers are great if they get you closer to that crucial third promo (they will) but I don't think this civ is gamebreaking at all. It's fine.

Civ: :  hammer hammer hammer
Leader yikes yikes yikes yikes yikes (Go-go-Gadget Expand!, OP)
Player:  bow yikes bow yikes: (Good enough to win if things go his way, will dominate his region/coexist with the big sharks)
Chance of winning: nodnodnodnodnod
Top 10 finish: Automatic unless the server dies before T25.
Don't Say I Didn't Warn You: shhh shhh shhh  (Domination win via settler spam by the Renaissance)

Conclusion: Quarternary Consumer (A Whale's Whale, A Snarky Shark)

Up next: Rounding out the top 5, still a whale, still a shark, still a dangerous opponent. Might be another month... mischief

It's taken 25 turns to build a worker and hook up the first two wheat resources. Now to start figuring some things out. Unfortunately, I don't have much time this week, or ever it seems. I just finished a quick snowboarding trip, back to work for two days, then more travel for the next five. Things should settle down some after all of this, but essentially this is three weeks on the road and I didn't do much simming before the travel stuff started because I chose to scout deep instead of scouting locally. I am not as hardcore as I used to be so I'm not going to sim to the nth degree with poor map knowledge to have to just scrap it over a new discovery. Does plains deer count as a new discovery? I guess so, maybe.

It appears that my warrior is scouting out some back line territory now. I should probably change tech path to animal husbandry and I perhaps should have moved my first worker last turn to a forest rather than onto the flood plains. I've done a few runs where I grow to size 4 and many more where I just chop the shit out of my capital to shave a few turns off workers and settlers. I don't remember which came out ahead but I think as of now I'll just grow to size 3 then start chopping the settler. I can throw a whip into it as well to get a jump on the next worker and then keep up with chops/whips. A second warrior here is just me being prudent. I can whip it in an emergency as it is unlikely that anyone has a woody2 unit just yet to kill me before I can revolt/whip the warrior. If that happens then :Golfclap for whoever puts me out of my misery.

Or, as interpreted by the wise:

But I will tell you what... it's taken 25 turns to build a worker and hook up the first two wheat resources. But look, now to start figuring some things out. By the way,I said, unfortunately, I don't have much time this week, or ever it seems. The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive. But the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us, and I just finished a quick snowboarding trip, back to work for two days, then more travel for the next five. Now if you remember, things should settle down some after all of this, but essentially this is three weeks on the road and I didn't do much simming before the travel stuff started because I chose to scout deep instead of scouting locally. I can get along with anybody, frankly. My uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago - who would have thought that I am not as hardcore as I used to be so I'm not going to sim to the nth degree with poor map knowledge to have to just scrap it over a new discovery. To be honest with you, does plains deer count as a new discovery? We have a real problem here - I guess so, maybe. You was totally out of control!

This is a very good looking group of people here. Could I just go around so I know who the hell I'm talking to... it appears that my warrior is scouting out some back line territory now. I'll tell you what, I should probably change tech path to animal husbandry and I perhaps should have moved my first worker last turn to a forest rather than onto the flood plains. I will build a great wall - and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me - and I'll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words. I have the endorsement of the NRA, which I'm very proud of. They are very, very, very good people - i've done a few runs where I grow to size 4 and many more where I just chop the shit out of my capital to shave a few turns off workers and settlers. By the way, I don't remember which came out ahead but I think as of now I'll just grow to size 3 then start chopping the settler. Did you know, Hillary Clinton created ISIS. There is nobody bigger or better at the military than I am. I can throw a whip into it as well to get a jump on the next worker and then keep up with chops/whips. Which, in all fairness, a second warrior here is just me being prudent. My daugher is very beautiful. If you want to know the truth, I can whip it in an emergency as it is unlikely that anyone has a woody2 unit just yet to kill me before I can revolt/whip the warrior. But look, if that happens then :Golfclap for whoever puts me out of my misery. I can get along with anybody, frankly.

Lurker sub, workers farm flood plains, warrior scouts counterclockwise around capital. Scout limps along carefully. Thanks.
