[SPOILERS] Team EggHeads: DMOC and TeddyKGB (Now Lurker-Friendly!)

(October 22nd, 2013, 22:44)TeddyKGB Wrote: I don't know, maybe LP building army of warriors and planning coquest 'all 3 of us' by the T100?

Obv, LP will play to win and use every little possibility including diplo.
He basicly ignore us for now, but LP and OS stay in closer contact, I guess. Once I login in game, several turns ago, while LP and OS were in. OS put some words in global chat, like "nice talking with u, cu soon" or something.
Sut not talking very much with me about LP.
I don't know how LP see best diplo configuration for him, but India and us fighting would be nice for LP as long neither of us could win.
I believe LP told us already he is concerned about India and willing to help. I bet, once he contact CareBears, he'll tell the same thing about us.

About Asterix. I did mention to him many times that we are natural allies. Formal NAP won't make you stronger allies, situation on the map do.
Sure, T120 NAP, ok. He did mention MM and OS has NAP T135.

I doubt Maga and Asterix is the same person, but it could be.
And let's not forget, Ichabod wanted to join MM team. Not sure he is helping them right now, tho.

lol Yeah, who knows what LP and Asterix are up to. Oh well, nothing much but to play along and see if there's anything actually useful we can learn.

I made some revisions to the message. If it looks good, you can send it. Hopefully the game gets back up soon ... my week-of-doom is halfway through and it'd be nice to get some serious civilization discussion going. Good timing, actually. lol My busiest week corresponds to when the game is down.

Quote:Hello Asterix,

Both of our teams are natural allies, as dictated by both the map and our previous diplomacy. Thus, we're happy to extend our NAP up to turn 120 (a 30-turn extension). Will you find this acceptable? Furthermore, we should still keep in touch and update each other on how other civilizations of interest are developing.

Both of us have already agreed on a non-disclosure deal, so information you tell us should be confidential, and vice versa. Out of curiosity, how long is your NAP with Team Orgynized? Ours is up to turn 90. They wanted a longer NAP, but we decided against it since we're generally wary of long NAPs.

Game is up. T69 finished.

Pretty interesting things going on.

We've contact Yos (best team on the other half is our neighbour, our position even more nicer now).
And some other team borders visible. As you can expect (if I'm not mistaken) its AGG Rome. Very funny.

In other news, scout explored LPs land a bit.
Warrior moved to fogbust for Yuufo as agreed. He will spawnbust for us too, but not completely.
Keep chariot in our culture to help Cornell if needed. Same time this chariot close enough to barb warrior in our borders.

MIT set to whip worker next turn.
If you want some other configuration -- there is still time, I'll pause game as requested in tech thread.
Funny screenshot. Demos with 4sci and Masonry. Its not how I left the game.

Sent short message to Yos.
Anything we want to talk with them now?

Quote:Dear YossarianLives and Caledorn,

Our unit just met your mighty Quechua 'Elayne'.

Our capital is 7 tiles north from 'Elayne'.
You are the 5th team we've contact so far. Orgy, CareBears, M&M and SutOxy was our contacts before.

If you wish to contact CareBears, your quechua should continue in NE-E direction.
We could help you with info about map via trading screenshots if you like.

Our team is wellcome all kind of cooperation between our civilizations. Such as:
- NAP
- OB and establishing trade routes.
- EP agreement
- Border agreement, if necessary
- Fair trade of screenshots and information
- Anything else?

We will consider all information from you as confidential and won't share it with other teams.
Could you agree to do the same?

It was just a short greeting message, I hope we'll send you a proper one shortly.

All the best,

TeddyKGB of EggHeads.

About city#6 location.

I did completely missed the river near Silver and Stanford river.
So, if we settle city#6 with Crab in BFC, research Sailing and road Silver tile (which we'll do anyway) -- that would be enough to connect silver city to the empire.

Now, does AGG Rome change our plans with city#6 location?

Our diplo and general goals is pretty 'easy' now:
- avoid losing city(s) to Praets
- avoid being dogpiled by LP and Yuufo preKnights
- keep expanding and grab some more land
- keep tech rate at reasonable level, so our Cataphracts won't have to fight tanks
- anything else I forgot?

Man we need to think over our city 6 location carefully. frown We basically have no choice but to negotiate with AGG Rome ... so our "best" city may not be the most "optimal" from a pure domestic perspective ... will post more comments shortly.

Just a quick note for now confirming receipt of your email. We like your suggestions a lot. Give us a little time to discuss and we'll get back to you with a full response shortly.

Any ideas about greeting message to Rome and diplo with Yos and Rome in general?
Reply

Here's a stab at a greeting to Team Rome. I tried to present a healthy medium between the extremes of saying (a) we're not afraid of you guys; we dare you to attack us, and (b) we'll do whatever it takes to avoid you attacking us.

Quote:Hello Gladiator's Glory,

Our exploring chariot has encountered your borders, so we can finally start our official diplomacy. It's interesting to see how the game is set up. It appears that the mapmaker divided the civilizations into two groups of five and arranged each group in a horizontal strip in some hemisphere, while allowing for some access via land to the other group of five.

Judging by the city culture our chariot found, you seem to be our southern neighbor. (The mapmaker apparently put ice in the middle of the map and lush greens near the north and south areas, but since this is toroidal I guess it doesn't matter.) That said, it makes sense for us to hopefully start off diplomacy on a positive note. In particular, we are open to performing the following:

1. Signing an NAP
2. Negotiating a fair border agreement
3. Fair trades of screenshots to each other
4. Open Borders and resource trades
5. Sharing plans about wonders to minimize wasted production

This is, of course, not an exhaustive list of our possible avenues for cooperation.

Incidentally, points 1 and 2 seem like the most important to hash out right now. As it's about turn 70 now, would you agree to an NAP offer up to turn 115 (1 AD)? Furthermore, we were hoping to settle a city by the silver resource near our chariot, since we badly need the happiness. In particular, we plan to settle [TODO], but we promise that this will be our southernmost city. Would you agree to this city plan?

Sincerely,
DMOC of Team EggHeads (DMOC and TeddyKGB)

We just need to fix the TODO with regards to our city placement.

I agree with your message in general.
But maybe its too early to give them so much information in the first msg?

I mean, we could gather some info first. Yos could be a nice source.

We have no idea how far our capitals from each other and configuration of other 5 teams on the map.
We can assume, if ice right in the middle, that Rome's capital 15-16 tiles away from ours in south direction.
But what about west-east? Is it 7-8 tiles east also?
I could be wrong, but I'm guessing Yos is Rome's western neighbour and Pony is eastern. Could be India's capital same distance from Rome's core as ours.

Its likely Rome has no knowledge about Crab. And it much more likely they had no idea about silver tile.

And I don't think we should ask permission to settle 5 tiles from our capital. What if they say: 'no, you can't'?

I don't like to move our chariot down south, but what if we move it 3-2 next turn and Rome couldn't defend their city properly on T72?
Would it be enough threat to force them sign a long NAP with us?
(And now I'm paranoid about we could miss enemy chariot somehow and its near Cornell now.)

I could be wrong again, but I don't expect much diplo action from GG.
They didn't update their thread. And I'm affraid they could be irrational with diplo like Pony.
And the leader/civ pick may suggest they are not so interested in winning the game, but to have fun with Praets.
I could be completely wrong, need more info.

As I understand C&D, Rome doesn't research IW yet. Though it safe to say they will soon.

They might have a target for Praets already. In any case, we should convince them -- attacking your east/west is better for your team. Argument could be: there is much better land than ice and tundra. Another argument: there should be a softer target, our team has top MFG at the moment, 2nd food and top population.

Last resort we could use in diplo: agree to a really long NAP with them, like T200 or more. This way both our teams are safe from each other's UU.

----

tl;dr: I think we need more info before send long msg to Rome.

T70.

Didn't move units that matter in case we want 2nd half of the turn vs Rome.
Didn't whip MIT either.

Yuufo complete road on cow.
Barb advanced next to worker. I did cancel worker action in case we want to move him away. Both chariots could cover the worker in case 99.1% odds not good enough for us, but in that case we leave Cornell very unprotected.
Scout continue exploring coast.
Wheat in UC is finished and working, allowing us to grow next turn.
Cornell connected.

Yuufo scores increased by 17 points. 5 of them from land (city#5 planted T50). 12 could be classical tech or more likely combination of ancient tech and grow pop. I'm not sure about my ability to read it proper.
India's holy city has granary in it and at size4 now.

No religion or wonder this turn.

Aivo founded city T69.

Had to decide:

- Deal with barb warrior
- Chariot 'retep' move where and when
- Whip MIT and put overflow into 1t Axe?
- Offer OB to Yuufo or talk with Asterix 1st?
Reply

Comments will be quick as I'm -- unfortunately -- quite busy.

-I'd offer OB to Yuufo, as we promised.
-Retep can move 1-2, which won't make contact with team GG yet, but then on turn 71 we can go 6-3 and likely see that city. What do you think? Gives us some leverage to have that chariot right there...
-Having both chariots cover the worker is fine. A chariot can get to Cornell in 2-3 turns and will be enough in case there are any barb warriors there
-I'm not sure I'd whip MIT -> Axe. Possibly Whip and put overflow into worker, then regrow to size 4/5 -ish while building an axe and then complete the worker there. Thoughts?

Edit: Some more good news.

Quote:Hi again TeddyKGB and Team EggHeads,

We were really happy to read your email. We appreciate your openness and suggestions for cooperation. You are the 3rd team we met, after BowAivo and Glorious Gladiators. We actually just met the Cannibal Ponies the turn after meeting you. Our capital is about 9-10 tiles southeast of the Silver tile that retep is on. Before meeting you we did not realize that there was a land wrap across the snow / tundra. Are all the teams you met north of the tundra?

We're happy to have a NAP with your team. How does T120 sound to you? Open Borders also works for us. Go ahead and propose it in game, or we'll do so next turn. As for an EP agreement, we'll stop spending after we get your graphs if you want to agree to the same. We're willing to discuss a border agreement, as we appear to be north-south neighbors. Right now we don't plan on settling that snow / tundra between us for quite some time so just let us know when you're ready to discuss it.

Again, we're really pleased with your opening message, and we're looking forward to peace and close cooperation with your team.

Blame Caledorn

Now we just need to figure out how to deal with GG...
