Curious then, is it not, that gifting gold is bad and needs to be called out but not gifting thousands of hammers?

And has nothing to do with my point that RB has in the past regarded gold gifts as cheese. Do you have a point to make aside from this lazy red herring? Is this the same argument that gets run out when Zak and novice play WW with you? I hope it's roundly ignored there, too. I know you can do better than that.

ipecac, I said earlier that I missed that TBS lacked coal, but so what? Nobody was obligated to give anyone any resources. Are you saying bgn is being cheesy for gifting aluminum to old Harry to overcome a map failing? It was all but certain to cause him to lose the space race, if it wasn't already a lost cause because of the tech deficit. I'm not sure how that's classified as cheese in your opinion, loved like an attempt to amend a failing of the map. So what if he didn't do it for the TBS as well? Doesn't change that he tried to even things with OH. I don't think it's possible to make everyone happy but that's quite a stretch to say gifting OH aluminum to have a fair so have race is cheese.

And to hell with sanctimony. We're just talking here.

I'm saying it's cheesy to be selective and giving FinHarry a 'fair race' by handing him thousands of hammer but not TBS.

Just a few posts back if the gold gifting was deliberate it was "a problem", "really cheesy", " too much intervention", and "crossing the line", and being a "jerk".

But now we're "just talking".

If I wanted to be selective and reply to part of your post and not the other, would that be unfair to the part that I didn't reply to? No, it would just mean I didn't reply to that part.

Yes, I'm talking about the kinds of things we usually allow or don't allow by community consensus. We happen to call it the don't be a jerk rule. I'm not sure what your getting at. I'm not trying to say anyone should stop doing anything because I don't like it. I'm saying it doesn't match the community precedent for fair play, that's the basis to allow or not allow something.

lol Your going right for the throat!

spacey:

1. I'm not saying GL is right. I'm saying that he has enough to make an argument like Rowain and Ipecac are doing here. That's good enough because you cannot talk in this game and in order to ban something that isn't flagrant in the middle of the game you must talk. This is similar where Blockades couldn't get banned in Sullla's second pitboss here where everyone wanted them banned. I think GL just messed up and forget that the gold-gift was for a loan. You can ask him if you feel like it. *

2. It's okay for lurkers to step up to play a few missed turns. The problem is that half the players went NMR and LP was subbing for half of them. There's a reason the write-up has "LP assimilation victory" in it. This is not normal for RB and is changing the rules in the middle of the match where the original rule was to find a sub. The game should have been called at that point, or a consensus should have been reached on how to deal with NMRs, instead of allowing the LP takeover without talking.

3. I don't think Rowain is joking because he said he would shoot novice or zak at the very start of a ww where everyone could kill one person and did so. At least Lewwyn would probably agree too. I've played with zak and novice as a wolf and the fact that they are very close influence how we played. But WW isn't civ in the first place anyway...

*Edit: This is interference if GL forgot and TBS should decide if he wants to "ask". I feel there's a 90% chance GL forgot because he would have mentioned a gold gift that big in his thread.

Rowain, this is irrelevant and unnecessary.

I can't believe you all argued about this for two pages without bothering to ask Joey whether or not it's even intentional.

I know what Rowain is going to say so I won't say it for him.

And look at that! Joey had different motivations than those given! rolleye

(Whether or not those are justified remains a matter for debate, of course.)

Why?
It explains why space jumps joeys and others throat for helping TBS but is rather silent to BGN helping OH to win.

If ipecac accepts that space is plain simply biased he can easier ignore his comments before this turns into something nasty.
