Pitboss 18 Lurker Thread of Infinite Wisdom

Can anyone explain how Krill was able to land his paratroopers?
I had all the tiles covered the last time I played a turn, it looked like this: I don't have a screenshot from T260 though, but...we weren't on strike and didn't lose a unit that way. I don't know how it could have been killed without showing up in the combat log (empty) or in the event log (I don't see it): Apparently we've lost two warriors during the game though: Anyway, as mentioned in the tech thread, Krill is going to cause problems for the other players if he takes our city. Event if it doesn't matter for the outcome of the game, all the players know the point of the lurker civ being on the map, and farming for XP or taking the freebie EP buildings isn't the point. In actual game news, I've been away from the PB18 forum the last week and just caught up on the threads today. To my recollection the great artist GJ spawned and sent to TBS was a low odds GA, so I don't think it was a planned thing. The next great person is one to watch, though: Six turns away and a virtually guaranteed great artist. That would probably shave 3 or 4 turns off TBS's victory date, 100% assuring the win if he were to give the great artist to TBS for any reason or price. I'm not speculating on GJ's intent here, and there's really nothing better for him to do with a city that's starving from losing tiles, so I understand why the GP pool is so loaded with artist points. He was surely trying to keep his tiles as long as possible (the city to the west is TBS's 3rd CV city, Basilisk Caves) and once the city started starving, why not run max specialists? But...what's he going to do with this GA when it spawns? (On an unrelated topic I forgot to check the trade screen to see ongoing deals. Is GJ still throwing like 1,000 gpt to TBS through various resource deals?) The fact that TBS felt comfortable enough to use Basilisk Caves on the border as the replacement CV city shows what he thinks of GJ's likelihood of intervening to stop the CV attempt. But that's a whole other can of worms to discuss, or not. Because we lose our view into the game, to lurk with infinite wisdom. 2. Because the players understood that the lurker civ was placed on the map to lurk, not to be messed with. If we were going to interact, why bother with putting the ice around the city? Why change the interaction 260 turns into the game? I think people and myself don't really care anymore because only TBS and OT can win anymore and they update their threads. I vote to allow Krill to kill us if he can explain how he took up our warriors.
Why not just let him do whatever he wants with the city? He won't have any real impact on the game, and as best I can tell it isn't actually against the rules. The only civs that matter have been reporting almost daily anyway.
I guess you could make him swear to not run any espionage missions if he keeps it instead of razing.
Why not? Because the lurker civ isn't part of the contest. It's observing the contest. Sure it won't matter at this point. Did we make a specific rule saying not to kill it? I don't remember one, no. But what of it? We don't make rules for lots of things when it seems obvious and unnecessary. I'm kind of tired of arguing about pointless things like this though. I guess it comes down to either abiding by the spirit of the contest or not. Maybe that doesn't matter, or shouldn't, whatever. I'm not the admin of this game either, that's why I put the poll up for this issue. At last count we were still in favor of not giving in, presumably because there is still some value in the access the lurker city gives us.
Do you think anyone else was going to find the upcoming artist from GJ's border city? Maybe, maybe not. What's the point of giving away our access right at the end stage of the game? Certainly not just because Krill thinks it would be awesome.... What Bob said.
I really don't see the problem with it - no one predicted the game lasting this long, and personally I find it kinda cool that the lurker civ will be taken out.

There's in favor of not giving in (by covering all the tiles) and then there's forcing other players out of game to spare us.
