Yazilliclick Wrote:Hey I just found out this afternoon that I may be sent travelling for a up to two months for work a week or two from now. Nothing is confirmed but I'd basically be useless for that time as I most likely won't have any halfway decent net connection most of the time and will be working 14+ hour days. I'll let you know for sure though when I find out if I'm really going. Damn that shucks. I'll be fine here alone for now, no need to worry about that. You'll probably be back before it gets too hectic in this game (if you still have interest at that point). IF you have to go, anyway. But better get a replacement for RPB1. Real life's always the priority. Have fun there, don't burn yourself out with those 14 hour days :hippie:

Cigarettes was eaten by a lion. He was even standing in a forest We are out of units. Except 1 worker. Next warrior in 2 turns. Scout or two after that one. Then maybe more warriors and a settler..

Started on archery. Horses 1 tile outside of fat cross. India can plant second city to claim both their copper and horses.. crazy stuff. I think they are stalling with diplomacy atm. been 4-5 turns since I sent them a note to start discussing the borders.. Now only 2 turns more to the automatic NAP renewal.

Seems I was just talking to you (Yaz) about the other game earlier today and here you are over in this >game too!
Spiros our wandering warrior has ran very far (26.2 miles to be exact!) to meet you. And how ironic >that he runs into the Greeks, his countrymen!
I am assuming that it was your exploring scout / warrior that died to a lion a few tiles east of your >borders. We came across the injured lion a few turns ago and not to worry, his death was avenged!
Since we don't have open borders, I guess Spiros will just wave and move on. Is there safe passage >around your cultural influence? Any other advice on where we might find other civs, or other interesting >terrain features?
Hope to hear from you soon!

It is good to hear from the east. It was actually our scout.. AND our warrior who against the odds died to some lions only a few turns apart. I'm surprised but glad you made through the wilderness to meet us
We are very interested to trade information with your civilization, as you now know we didn't get very far to the east. Anyway, I would recommend you to go southwest. Go far enough and you will find another team there. I'm wondering where might your starting location be and have you met anyone else yet? It also interests us what kind of shape is the landmass to the east?
I'm afraid to tell you that Yaz is a bit busy with RPB1 and might not be sending much diplomacy messages, but nevertheless he is part of our team indeed Also you might be wondering why am I sending this e-mail from a different e-mail account.. Well, in case you hadn't read the IT thread, we had to change our e-mail to wippies.com due to being banned from gmail. I thought I should probably check it now that we have met you and surprisingly it now works so I was able to receive your message, but we will still be using this e-mail for the rest of the game to avoid any more problems.
Waiting forwards to hear more of you,
Jowy

Met them to our east. Looks like we are sandwiched between the two teams that I especially didn't want to be next to!

OK. In a related note, we have met the team of Regoarrar, Darreljs and Sunrise in the east. Actually it was more them finding us than us finding them, due to both of our scouting units dying to wild animals just a turn or two away of their units or lands. Anyway, I sent them southwest to find you. Hope you don't mind. They wouldn't really have much else to go anyway.

Yes we accept.

Yes we promise this to you. Not that I'm afraid that you would settle near us, now that I've seen your awesome lands compared to ours. Still as a friendly gesture from us we still accept and won't settle aggressively against you. I wouldn't mind some defined border once you've scouted more. Because of this donut-land it shouldn't be too hard to divide.. Just a vertical line in middle of the lands between us, maybe a tile or two south since south has better lands.

Do you have a warrior in capitol for safety? Isn't it too much to reveal to Rego that you lost both warrior and scout?

I was debating whether to go for a warrior or scout next, but I settled on scout because we get archery in 4 turns. We can get two more warriors out before they reach Athens if they do decide to attack. Only thing I'm worried about is the worker, who I will move a bit back in case they come too close to him.
Telling them about our lost warrior and scout didn't seem like a mistake and still doesn't... But if they try their luck in hopes for an empty capital, even if they won't succeed, then it was a mistake to tell them. :/

While we haven't yet received a reply for our last message, we would like to bring your attention to an urgent detail of your warrior's route. Moving him one tile southwest on the next turn would have to be classified as an aggressive and hostile move against our civilization. We feel that friendly relations between our civilizations would benefit us both more than bitter hostility with little to no gain. You are free to move south and then continue southwest
~ Jowy
We are in no danger here, only way they could steal that worker is by double-move. Just trying to save some turns by not moving off the furs and then back in.

Quote:Hey Jowy,
It is kind of strange the turn to real time correlation in this early game -
the game seems to go pretty quickly. You did only send your first message 8
hours ago, so hopefully you won't fault me too much for not having replied
yet!! :-D
I will pass your request on to the real powers. While I am the "face" of
Byzantium (playing turns and emailing folks), the other team members are
more of the folks that make the decisions on what actually happens.
Personally, I am more of a builder and prefer peace, so hopefully this all
works out. I am fairly optimistic - it's an early game and our civ and
leader are not really well suited to an early rush anyways.
In any case - we wish to offer our condolences on the early loss of your
units. Also, you mentioned your concern about Spiros moving to the SW.
That gives the impression that you are low on military police, whether that
impression is true or not. So, since you appear to be somewhat short-handed
in units, and given the unfortunate occurrence that happened to Mortius,
would you be interested in a longer-term NAP? Something along the lines of
100 turns or so? Such a strong agreement can allow us to focus our military
buildup in another direction, and provide us both with a sense of security.
As for our location, as you can imagine, we are a 26.2 mile journey to your
east, as you no doubtedly have guessed. As for meeting other folks, you are
our first (and so far our best!!!) :-)
Hope to hear from you soon (and consider the 8 hour reply timer started!)
:-D

Thanks for the quick reply :3 We aren't really THAT conserned about our security. It's more of an efficiency issue. Anyway, glad we are both on the same page. Obviously a long NAP is something quite significant, so we have to think about it a bit if you don't mind. We'll be back about that later. Say HI to the big bosses from me would you :P
~ Jowy
What do you think? If we sign a nap with them, then we don't really have a location to attack to. That'd mean we'll live in peace atleast to turn 75. Might not be a bad idea considering who we're next to. They definately noted my mention of losing our units. MWIN is right, might have been better not to mention that. It might work other way around though, if we were really conserned about our safety we wouldn't reveal such things..

Sigh. Rego double-moved to the other hill south of the first one, which I somehow forgot about, and ended up next to our worker anyway. What was I thinking? Fine, fair enough, I'll just move that worker away until they pass. Or not. For some reason our worker has no movepoints left -.- They're going to steal that worker. God dammit.
EDIT: OK I figured it out now. It's in my reply.

Hi,
Per your request, we moved S and then SW. I'm not sure if I misunderstood
your instructions on what you would prefer or what, but that ended us up
next to an unguarded worker of yours, which I had kind of been thinking was
your intention to avoid.
We do remain interested in an NAP with your civ and hope to hear from you
soon

Can't believe I still managed to mess something up in a game that gives you 24 hours to think through your moves That was indeed what I was trying to avoid. Btw can you confirm that, as far as I understand, the turn order we had was:
- Your warrior moves south
- My worker keeps improving
- Your warrior moves southwest
which would mean our worker should get a move before your next one. Perhaps you wouldn't have stolen him anyway, but I'd be surprised if the thought didn't occur to you at all :P Feel free to move before me next turn if you move to another tile than the fur one.
Still waiting for Yaz for thoughts on the NAP, he has been busy with RPB1 lately.
