I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

So, that part of the plan is working. First Great Spy in 25 turns and he will yield 3000 EPs - worth about 3000 beakers(?) or 120 beakers per turn. Not bad for doing nothing. Sure, that will need some hammer investment in spies but that I can do. I am going to turn my capital into a hammer powerhouse as soon as I finish some techs ...

Why is priesthood the key tech before switching to production?

T-hawk Wrote:The other part of an EE is religion discounts - do you have a plan to get your own holy city for the top discount of 40%? The second build in my second city will be a Temple, 34 turns of running GPriest and I have my Shrine. Then the plan is to only produce Great Spies from then on. Heck - it might even be the first build depending on my tech order. Further thinking ... if I can get that temple finished before I have accumulated 32 GPPs of Great Wall (8 turns) then my Priest will be my first Great Person. Going to sim that out.
Oh - just realized I missed a tech - Archery

I've updated my composite map and included some preliminary dot maps. I am still thinking about what to do with the South ... the cow isn't particularly nicely placed for me and it also clashes with the fish in the West. Maybe I just cannot actually work the stone.
First settlement is green. Thinking about it, I probably should prioritize settling East as I have a border agreement in the West.

T53 - my second city ... finally (green dot) - only 15 turns off the pace. Hopefully everyone else will want to build libraries and run GSc once they get writing and I can catch up a bit.

fun times ... TT declares on Adhoc. Hopefully, NAS /strike that ... NSA's warning re TT has meant that Adhoc has some axes on defense. If so, it won't go well for TT. That said, Adhoc is dragging the chain. I have secured a NAP with Pegasus through to T75 and then auto-renew with a 10 turn cooling off period. I also asked adhoc how he is going - just seeking input on his war preparations.
TT had this interesting proposal ...
If there is one quick way to totally fall behind in one of these games, it is to get involved in an early war (see pbem #2). I do have copper connected, horses next turn (good bye towns), thus converting my capital into a hammer rich environment. I've also 'solved' the problem re working the stone I mentioned above when discussing my dot map. I am going to put a military city 1SE of the stone - 5 hills plus stone and 1 or 2 grassland cows.
2nd city is working the pastured sheep while building a worker - that isn't ideal, but I didn't have any buildings available to build (ie granary) in time - poor tech management on my part. I'll chop that worker out and then work on the granary.

Not much to report ... - peace between waring parties
- everyone else has writing
- I just picked up priesthood (max discount for writing)
- capital is growing, workers are chopping and roading to next city sites
- no change in city counts from others
- NAP to T80 with Adhoc (I asked him not to tell anyone else)
- Proposed war plan with TT v Adhoc starting around T80 (I told TT I have a NAP through T80 with Adhoc - forgot to tell him that I told Adhoc not to tell anyone about it)
- exploring warrior is defogging one of the 'South's so that I can update my composite local map (other copper, fir, etc)

I have started another pbem over at CFC where I will be playing exactly the same leader / civ combo and approach - should be fun. The twist in the CFC game is that it is an advanced start with 6000(!) advanced start points. Lots of crazy things that you can do with that many points ... any suggestions? And don't worry about spoilers, this is a CFC pbem and not a RB pbem.
The are also asking players to keep a running diary of their game (in character) - I will be doing that here for everyone's enjoyment.
