Yeah... farmer's gambit is just too effective when combined with diplomacy and the possibility for mass emergency whipping. Although I'm wondering now if a crazy rush- like a warrior rush- would actually work in a game like this, if all your opponents are expecting to develop peacefully.

A little blood would make this game more fun to watch. I was very disappointed when Commodore came to terms with TT and skipped his Keshik rush.

Well, if Mackoti had had blood in his eyes when he showed up with the chariot near Gaspar, he would have caused massive trouble (worker steal + raze a city, most likely).

But then Gaspar (not because its Gaspar, I mean to say every player in that situation) would spend all his game trying to hamper Mackoti in every way possible, leading to him falling behind the growth curve... It wouldn't be a good winning perspective for Mackoti either.

You're welcome smile

(Though it was more me keeping as many bases covered, and others leaving gaps in their security, and therefore letting me use my military surplus)

Sure, but mackoti wasn't really trying to rush. I think he just wanted to secure the border area. What if he'd pumped out 3 or 4 chariots as fast as possible and gone for the capital?

Is anyone competing for the Great Lighthouse? If not that means Mack nets:

The Pyramids
The Oracle
The Hanging Gardens
The MoM
The Great Lighthouse

All while continuing to expand and maintaining a decent military bow

Most games have too much distance between civs for a warrior rush to work. Also most players do C&D at the beginning at least, showing an increase of 7 warriors surely will get everyone to adapt. That might mean that you'll get them to go out of builder-mode, but they will still be better off (less warriors needed for defense than offense).

I think PBEM7 is one of the few PBEMs at RB which had something like an early rush (and not just a lucky walk into an empty capital) and it needed 2 players to work together - and even then we needed a shitload of troops to actually be able to take Dazed out. Of course partly that was for Krills map-setup (copper on the PH your settler started on and which everyone of course settled) but partly also because it simply is extremely hard to fight an offensive war at tech-parity at quick speed and actually winning it. At least if your opponent is also nearly the same size as you are. If you also want to actually gain something by that war - good luck. Never seen that happen.

Bizarro wonder race, as Commodore and Mackoti are both building the Great Wall and hoping for fail gold lol

Commodore's impeccable GLH timing contributed to keeping this interesting. Well done. Nothing like getting a nice wonder while sacrificing as little as possible.
I have to run.
