oh yeah forgot about sian haha

3 continents with pairings similar in strength and inland starts would work then making it a kind of duel first to control your landmass. ofc whoever wins out of me and sian would then be most likely to be taken over by the winners from the other duels.

If we are to do the continents thing (fine by me), I'd much prefer 2 with 3 players rather than 3 with 2 players. Else you get too much of an advantage from being able to squish your neighbour, can't do that as easily with 3 residents per continents. This would also make it resemble the Apolyton DG a little bit, and for all its failings I thought that part of it was cool. I haven't seen it used in an RB game, would be interesting.

several continents (unless they're all within galley distance of each other prehaps) might be prone to be the one winning dual easiest and then the best buildup for a industrial war ...

if you want to have sailing involved i'd suggest small islands with the capital on, around a larger shared island ...

but again ... up to mapmaker ... to many comments and requests tends to kill mapmaker interest since they have no room to manouver with their own ideas

3 major continents with islands mixed in sounds good to me. However, I don't at all agree with the insistence on hindering folk further. You've got pack of India or inca. That should be enough mate.

Starting locations should be randomly decided with each start roughly balanced.

I also agree with shoot entirely, especially re point 8. On phone do apologise for formatting etc.

Okay, lets see if we can get this narrowed down somewhat.

1) Since I don't think it was directly responded to, are people okay if I am the mapmaker? I don't think it was ever directly answered, and I'm assuming that I've been given the go ahead, so if not let me know now.

2) Everyone on one landmass, 2 Continents w/ 3 people each, or other choice?

3) Islands important, not needed but there, or non-existent?

4) Do you want to see your starts before or after the picks?

If there are any other important things that need to be decided for the map, let me know/bring it up for vote. If we can get opinions in from everyone, or at the least a 2/3rds majority, then I'll start on a map.

Alternatively, If people want it to be more random and to require more analysis of the world, I can take some of the options supported and just go ahead and make a map from those, and then just let you know what you need and let you find the rest instead of planning it all out beforehand. Makes it a bit more mysterious and less calculated, and from some of what Kyan initially proposed that might have a better feel.

EDIT: And I crossposted with both Sian and Kyan, a new record!

As to the continents issue, if I was trying to figure out a way to keep it from getting out of hand early, I would consider doing 3 people on 2 continents, and possibly some islands in between to enable contact pre-Caravels.

I think if we do continents it should be 2. I'd much prefer to see three teams on a continent rather than two. I think it would be both more interesting to play and probably more balanced.

In terms of balancing, I agree with Kyan, Pacal of India/Inca should be enough and starts should be randomly assigned. I don't really want to see anything to do with the map handicapped.

EDIT: Crosspost with BrickAstley. I'll respond to that below

1) Sounds good to me for you to be mapmaker.

2) My vote is one landmass (with 2 continents as backup vote)

3) My vote is islands important, especially if on same landmass (if it is continents I'd say islands somewhat important or even just to allow for galley contact between continents)

4) I'd prefer after

As another issue, if we're doing continents or islands important, I think we should ban the GLH.

firstly i was thinking about the inland start so you dont have any guidance of which way to head first. if your on a coast or can see desert/jungle or ice/tundra you explore accordingly.

1. Great to have you do the job!

2. 2 continents with 3 civs on each sounds interesting!

3. Islands should be there and might be important.

4. After is ok as well.

I agree with Kyan and Shoot, no more handicaps besides the restricted snake.
Starting places should be randomized.

Sounds like a fun game!
