I also vote for see the start. Or vote for don't see the start and random civs/leaders. smile
With any luck my nice teammate will be able to help with the snake pick...that's one of the parts I suck at the most...choosing my civ & leader. I actually love games where that is random.

I noticed that Espionage is on without any comments. Can we use spies and missions?

Work is busy and I really haven't felt super motivated on the map with the little work I've done so far.

I can still do it, though it might be a bit still until it's ready.

However if someone else has a desire to mapmake, it would probably be better for me not to do it.

Both have been nerfed all to hell in RtR mod; so feel free!

With RtR mod the imbalanced aspects of espionage are scaled back into a much more playable state. I wouldn't expect there to be any reason to ban spies or missions as currently implemented, unless Krill can say anything about the state of 2.0.7.1 to the contrary.

From the change log:

(July 20th, 2014, 15:28)Krill Wrote: Espionage:

Switch Civic, Switch Religion, City Revolt,Counter Espionage, and Destroy Production spy missions removed.

Costs of all active spy missions doubled.

Discounts to spy missions due to religious effects removed (owning holy city, religion present in city).

Spies now spawn with "Secretive", and cannot see tiles except the one they're standing on.

The No Espionage game option now works properly:
  • GSpy points are converted into Great Merchant points.
  • Espionage no longer gets converted into culture.
  • Cultural expansion now happens at normal values.
  • Spies cannot be built.
  • Graphs are always visible on contact.

Edit: Ninja'd by Commodore.

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

Thanks a lot for irrefragable answer.

Even if the map is a ways off, any chance we can get a pick order? It would be helpful in strategizing...

And also an idea of the script? Big and small and a medley map have both been floated, but an actual choice doesn't seem to have been made from what I have read.

Agreed. Any neutral lurker mind rolling a snake order? List of players is on the first page.

Medley sounds fun, but if Brick is strapped for time the classic "B&S with capitals and strat resources balanced" is fine by me.

Any interest in rolling a B&S and balancing capitals/strat resources?

Damn, I knew there was a catch somewhere!

I have no problem rolling a map and balancing the starts. I don't really want to make any promises over the balance of the rest of the map though. I'll roll a few till I get a good one to start with and I'll fix any issues I(or others) see but I won't exhaustively look for them, I'm not sure I want to spend that time. If you're ok with that caveat then I'll make it for you. I'd probably be looking at finishing the map on the weekend but could get starts out earlier.
I'm cool with this. Anyone give a second? I'm sure TBS can send it off to Brick/Krill for their veteran mapmaker eyes.
