Zalson plays one turn at a time [COMPLETE]

T61
Workers started in Medina and in Mecca. I desperately need more workers to get these cities growing onto improved tiles. Happy cap will be 8 with religion and gems and gold.

T62:
Whip the worker at Medina.

T63:
Worker D completes in Medina. Start missionary.

D moves 1 south to add a farm to the silk. Might as well get a 3/2 tile while I can. A,B,C all move 2 south along roads to start a farm for damascus.

T64:
Complete archery. Start fishing.

Judaism spreads to Mecca. party

Workers complete the farm 1N of damascus. The leftover worker moves 1NW and builds one turn into a cottage.

Mecca
Completes the worker next turn. Will put shields into the barracks while growing.

Medina
Creating a Jewish missionary for Damascus. Workers will go connect the gold soon.

Damascus
Just growing. Size 2 next turn!

Not much to report. This will be last report until Thursday/Friday evening.

Mecca finished its worker and continued working on the barracks. Workers finished a cottage 1S of Mecca, which Damascus started working with pop 2.

Worker E started off with a very inefficient move on to the hill NW of Damascus. Going to mine that hill so that Damascus can put out some hammers once I chop the forest into the workboat. 1/3/0 is better than 2/1/0

Medina regrew to size 3 and started working on the Cottage 1S-1SW again. That'll be a hamlet in 1 turn.

Next goal is to settle the terrible copper city. That'll be the heroic epic because it is not good for anything else. Hopefully, Ramesses will move south with city 1.

Got Qin's graphs. There's not much to see there, except that he has certainly been building units. The nice news is that I'm 2nd in GNP and 2nd in crop yield. Not too bad for 3 four food resources and 2 flood plains. I screenshotted it; if anyone wants graph screenshots, let me know.

T66: finished fishing, started … had to think about this a bit.

I’ll eventually need meditation and priesthood to get Monarchy. That would also give me a … 60% (I think) bonus on writing. But paying 208 beakers to get a tech I could use very soon seems foolish. So writing it is.

Worker E starts a mine on the hill shared by Mecca and damascus. A,B,C all move 1 NE and start a cottage for Mecca to grow onto in 1T. D continues farming.

Warrior 4 has discovered the massive expanses of ice to the north and so will head back south. Goal is to have him clean out the fog from that mountain range.

Science goes to 0 to accrue 24 gold.

T67

Turn science back on; writing in 4.

Medina grows and starts working the farmed silks. Mecca grows in one turn.

Next to get the workers improving the gold at Medina. Let’s see how rapidly I can do that.

T68
Mecca starts a settler after finishing the barracks.

Judaism spreads to Damascus! Jewish missionary out of Medina is canceled for an archer. While I’d like to build the archer in Mecca for the extra experience, a 13-T settler is worse than a 9T settler. Especially since that’s likely to be a 5T settler with a double whip.

Micro question here: should I spend the time on the cottages, even though the forest spice is a better yield? It’s 15h vs 14 h +1 commerce.

Mecca

Damascus: there’s not really any point in switching to a workboat now. I should be able to whip the granary in another 6-7 turns or so and can chop the workboat out at that point. Or I can chop the granary and whip into the workboat. Lots of options there. This does make getting the grassland hill more valuable. An extra hammer from organized religion!

In worker turns, I naturally decide that it’s better not to have gold earlier but instead to force workers to run south to put some turns into a cottage that’s going to be unused.

T69
Mecca switches over to the GLH mine to lower the time toward settler 4 to just 7 turns.

Medina grows next turn and I start moving workers back toward the gold. which I decided is really important to have hooked up right away from some reason that escapes me.

T70
Someone completes the Oracle — but it’s not China nor Egypt.

Medina grows to size 5 and, because I am great at CIV, it will spend the next few turns working a plains hill forest. Hooray for my micro.

Double-whip coming in Mecca next turn.

T71
Complete writing and switch to math. If I can get it before I need that workboat, then that makes chopping it significantly better. You all know this, but it’s nice to say obvious things? I am also going to need to chop the heck out of City 4.

Somebody finished the great wall. Not Egypt nor China.

Math due in 12 turns.

Mecca
Done with the settler. After the settler, starts a library.

Medina
Owning that plains hill. Will be able to triple whip something at some point. Probably a library. maybe a worker?

Damascus
Should be able to whip the granary sometime soon, too.

Mecca:
Instead of a Madrassa, I think I need an archer. So Mecca starts as archer and switches to max food. Will grow in 2. Happy cap of 7 which is nice.

Medina
Medina grows to size 6 and whips the archer, which will overflow to complete a Jewish Missionary next turn. Gold mine is completed.

Damascus
Damascus is 8 turns from growing, but can whip this turn. Going to hold off until I get at least 13 food that’ll be good. Working the gems mine means I can get there in 3 turns. Which means I can whip it for about 20 overflow. Which should let me get me a workboat in about 6 turns, maybe less? But I’ll get the fish online right when the border pops.

After they finish the gold mine, the workers start a road to city 4. It’s nice not to have to worry about barbarians, for sure.

One worker moves back to the grassland hill to put a turn into a mine.

31 gpt. Next turn, I’ll turn on science again.

T73
Mecca: will grow next turn. finish the archer and then start on the madrassa.

Medina: finishes the jewish missionary, should get another grassland hill. I can actually stagnate at size 7 (or get close enough).

Damascus: continues growing.

Next turn we should found city 4. That's about it for now.

Mathematics in 7(!) shaved off a turn!

A larger update tomorrow.

The overview.

After taking this shot, I realized that adding Baghdad increased my deficit. I need another turn of 0% science to ensure I get Math in the right time period. Which will be not soon enough for the chopped granary at Baghdad but still better than not choppng.

My lands now include Baghdad, founded on top of the copper on the border (nearly) with Egypt.

I'm working the 1/2 tile to get the bonus shield from organized religion. This is going to be slow-growing until I can get some farms up.

Damascus I just realized it working a 2/1 tile instead of the cottage. Since I whipped this turn, I am going to switch to a max food config (for this city). Well, max-ish. I'll work the grassland hill mine for 2 extra hammers to the workboat that I'll overflow to next turn. (EDIT: Oh wait, no I won't. I only have 2 population.)

Medina is going to need another mine to slow down growth. I'm going to stagnate at size 6 and try to pop out a prophet/scientist asap. Worker after Madrassa, I think. Maybe a settler? More military?

Mecca
Finishes the archer while growing to size 8. at that size, I'll need at least 1 or 2 more cottages. I am also farming the other silk. Might as well.

I've found the rest of my starting food in the distant north.

I've finished exploring around Ramesses land's but I'm his worst enemy. He won't grant open borders.

Qin, on the other hand, is already out to 5 cities. eek Maybe another settler, for that floodplains spot? Sooner rather than later? He'll give me open borders. I'll accept and go scout his lands.

Not much happens. Workers B,C over by Damascus chop out the granary (next turn). Worker A finishes a farm on the silks, which will allow me to pump Mecca up to size 7 even sooner. Currently at a +8 food surplus.

Damascus finishes its granary and overflows into a workboat, due in 4 turns (2 turns after the border pop but oh well).

Medina continues to work on a Madrassa; I move worker D,E north east to mine the grassland hill. I really need more workers...

And that's about it. Research starts again on mathematics. perhaps I'll chop out the workers?

Mecca finishes an archer, starts a Madrassa(15). Size 6 next turn.

Damascus and Medina keep chugging.

Baghdad gets its chop. 9 turns until a granary. Probably less as I'll complete a grassland farm to urge the growth along -- growth in 10 turns but that'll go way down.

1 more turn into a Madrassa at Medina. Then we'll start working on a worker.

Damascus grows to size 3 next turn and finishes a workboat a turn after that. I mismanaged this a little bit I think. Probably could have gotten an extra hammer at some point to encourage growth.

T79
Stagnate Medina and I've decided I'll park the shields into the Library first. It's 2 turns from being complete and we can stop at 31/32 growth. Maybe pop out another archer or two in the time it takes whip anger to expire (T82).

Damascus completes its workboat next turn.

Mecca will grow in 2 turns. Whip anger expires in 2 turns too. I guess I'll grow to size 7 and then double whip to size 5. I don't have a lot of good tiles to grow onto there...

Baghdad completes its farm will grow in 6 turns. I'll try to chop another forest.

Mathematics in 3.
