turn 46-

Moved the impi's; the injured/killer of Magic's 3rd city impi is going to heal at the 4th-5thish city spot, while the uninjured checks out/keeps an eye on Magic+ barb city. On the domestic end of it, i whipped the granary into a workboat, which i can whip next turn as the culture expands to net the fish. A warrior will finish from any addtional overflow from that. got a worker chopping into a ikhanda for a border pop in the newly added 3rd city ( named wonder woman ) Planning on chop/whipping workers and settlers with 1-2 axes and impis to go to the east to protect the barb city that i want, and a new city i want to plant.

Also i wanted to talk about the above picture.. Im curious how any map balance was put into effect with magic having an easy 2nd/3rd city with Riverside, Grassland, copper. One of the best tiles in the game. Plus i dont see many jungle tiles near his side of things.. Is this punishment for pb38 commodore? shakehead  Unless im just not seeing much good.. It really seems like i was driven to conflict with magic due to the east being mostly grassland + river+ very few jungle tiles.. While if i head in any other direction i have plains, jungle, or just plain no food. Maybe this is just me bitching, but man.. If i end up winning this it will be an uphill struggle.

MasterJason, Everything going ok?

Yeah, I'm still alive, it's been an insane week or so playing the game of life. I'll get a longer writeup of observations probably tomorrow night, or tonight if I get a chance.

Okay, some thoughts on current events.

Next city, I'm guessing you're planning on going east towards Magic Science?  Or heading south towards the gems?  It looks like that barb city down south will make the potential gem city invalid unless the barb city is razed, can always shift the gem plant spot around too.

I'll agree that Magic Science seems to have a much more solid 2nd/3rd city spot by that copper, guess there's only so much balancing one can do without it seeming completely unnatural and copy/paste.

Also looks like Magic Science is spiking in power a bit, might be headed this way, maybe not.  Although it sounds like you've got a few more units planned so that will even out again soon.

I think the map looks something like this:

Based on the mini map it looks like there isn't a ton of room left to wrap, so I'd lean towards no ocean in the far east/west.  I think you've probably scouted to the bottom or close to the bottom of the map, with the Gems being sort of at the midway point between three civs.  If so, that's a decent map design because it ends up with each civ having 4 neighbors, one east, one west, and then two sort of SE/SW (or NE/NW if on the southern coast).  Lots of conflict potential.

that looks like it could be right. Next city is going to where the wounded impi is recovering. I hope to have enough axes/impi's to take the barb city and defend it from Magic. Cannot allow him to have it, if it means war it means war. Rome ill likely expand towards next with the next city, and then a bee-line towards the gems. Doesnt matter who controls the gems by the time i get down there... it will be mine. That barb city is in such a great spot down south.. if only it didnt make the gems city unavailable..

Turn 51-

Ill have all 3 cities growing EOT, the barb city is size 2 now,  and there are 2 axes and a quecha near it.. if he attempts to capture b4 i get axes there, ill prolly just raze it.  Found Charriu if i didnt mention that before... Looks like i will have to expand something like -magic 2 cities, -rome 1 city, and then towards the shallow/charriu 2-3 cities. That barb city on the ivory kinda messes with what plans i had.. its superior imo, to capture any barb cities that we can, as thats 100 "free" hammers saved.... but its not going to make for a great border city... hmm
