Munro Wrote:Sorry for the delay again.I will take the middle ground and increase the timer length to 22 hours. I believe it takes effect next turn.
Since no-one objected to Elkad's suggestion that we increase the turn timer, should we go ahead and do it? We can always change it back again if there are silent objectors that haven't had a chance to weigh in yet.
As T-hawk points out, we're not letting anyone miss their turns anyway (which is a good thing in my view; there's no fun in playing an inert opponent, or having turn order reversals and double moves mess up the game mechanics). A longer timer would give us more predictability and stop us having to mess around with pauses etc.
Come to think of it, why not just make it 44 hours? Since we're never letting the timer run out anyway wouldn't that just make life easier for everyone?

Thanks for the pause, shadyforce!
I am ingame if anyone is around to unpause. I have a diplo window open.
Sorry for taking so long to play again. With only 2 hours left to play, and both Kodii and dsplaisted still left to move, I've left it paused for them. Thanks for waiting again guys - you've really been going above and beyond.
The good news is that tomorrow is the weekend so I can play first thing. And after that I'm actually going to be away over Christmas, starting early next week. I've lined up a replacement player (Morgan). He's in the UK and so in a completely different timezone. Hopefully this will make things better as he should probably be able to play earlier in the day. Cheers Munro
Thanks for the pause, Munro
![]() Do we expect any breaks during the winter holidays? If so, it would give me time to find a replacement, because come the new year, I simply cannot devote the time necessary to play effectively, which is no fun for my allies or my enemies. Anyone know where I can find one?
Well I would be in favour of a Christmas break; I'm going to be unavailable 23rd-28th December, and I don't know if Kalin will be around to look after the civ.
Kodii Wrote:Thanks for the pause, Munro I am moving between Christmas and New Years so I would be in favor of a pause but Plako may be able to play for me. I am likely to be around. Kalin Kodii Wrote:Thanks for the pause, Munro Civ fanatics is usually a good place to look for replacements and I see dsplaisted recently posted over there. Have you had any luck? http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread...ost8724891 Christmas might be a difficult time to find a replacement but I have a couple of people I could ask if you don't have any luck soon. Let me know. Also, thanks again to both of you (dan and Kodii) for your patience with the turns. Even with a 22 hour timer I'm aware I'm still running well into the second half of the clock. Thanks for waiting for me to play each turn and keeping things in sequence. As of tomorrow, my sub (Morgan) will be taking over for me until early January, and he's in the UK and might be able to play earlier in the turn. I think the time difference will work out favourably as things currently stand. Have a great holiday everyone and I look forward to welcoming in the New Year with you all in the Cape Town bar a few weeks from now. ![]() Cheers Munro
No luck yet.
My civ-playing computer is having internet issues, but I hope to have it resolved before the clock ticks over, but in case it doesn't, could someone be watching out? Thanks ![]() |
