Not sure who these draws favour, Carlsen maybe had some nerves, and Anand probably didn't want to play so many long tiring games

Well my tourney that started in feb is now in the second round!

He was hoping for a time-out. It's very common; I've timed out in winning positions before.

not quite fireworks yet, but the game today is certainly looking at being a marathon game.

That said ... between the two commentator teams the official steam, i certainly prefer Trent-Sachdev to the Polgar-Ramesh. I think Trent is one of the best chess commentator (together with Short) ... while i have some problems understanding all Ramesh is saying (while not having that issue with Sachdev)

I don't like Short as a commentator. I think he is too full of himself. While he usually spots the most interesting variations it always seems like he thinks he should be playing in the event instead of commentating it.

But I do agree Trent is the best, followed by Daniel King. GM Alejandro Ramirez is commentating on some games later in the match on the Playchess server and his DVDs are superb, so I am looking forward to that as well.

@Gustaran What is your estimation of todays draw? Was it rather a win for Anand because he could outplay Carlsen as black or a loss because he only got a draw after reaching a nice position?

Argh,

In my tourney I just misclicked and am now in the dutch defense as black (currently d4 f5, f3). Anybody have a decent link on how to play this?

I think neither a win nor a loss. Generally speaking a draw with Black is considered a good result. In addition his advantage was not huge, considering that Anand was a bit short on time. It's great if your engine says -0.87, but that doesn't help you if you need to find complicated variations over the board and are in danger of time pressure.

I do believe that the first three games were better for Anand though. Carlsen never got any real advantage and I feel especially his opening preparation with White was rather bad.

Sorry, I don't think there is any theory after a questionable move like 2.f3. (if it is indeed f3 and not a typo wink)

Ok I think his move was questionable, but how do I take advantage of that? How do I develop, or what square should I be looking to attack?
