Thank you Mist. I highly appreciate your efforts and respect your desicion not to be part of this failed experiment, even if I would really like to see you continuing. Casual and overcompetitive players shouldn't have been in the same game with this ruleset.
Despite of my occasional whining I didn't care too much about the timer shanigans. I found it bad form to exploit them to the fullest, but I could easily bear it.
Now your 8h rule would work very well for me, but it seems there is resistance from some other teams. If we can't find consensus about changes there is no other alternative than to continue with the current one, call it or find a rule changes that are acceptable to everyone. I want to give this installement another chance and can't invent any better rule change. So our only alternatives are continuing as is or waiting for the rule change that would be acceptable to everyone (could take a long time). I've a strong preference getting this game back running as soon as possible. Otherwise more people start to lose intrest.
Concerning LP I think he should find a replacement. However he has stated he can change and I'm an optimist so I think we should give him yet another chance. If he still can't play casually enough we probably need to call this game, but I'm willing to take that risk.

Might as well give him another shot.

This discussion is moving fast, so my (perhaps evolved) list of preferences is:
*Continue with current rules and Mist.
*Continue with current rules and new admin.
*Change rules.
I reserve the right to change my mind again if there is a new ruleset that makes sense and sees wide support.

pindicator Wrote:I suppose I have more optimism. The way I've been looking at it is that the two people who have been outside the spirit of the rules have been warned / left. The one big issue was the constant avoiding ending turn to be able to game the double turn rule, but I think it's safe to say that has been addressed. Honestly, Lewwyn's post was better than anything I ever could type up (but I'll try :D). If we lose the spirit of a casual game and start relying more on a legalistic framework we're only encouraging people (IMO) to be legalistic and skirt as close to the rules. That's just my opinion. I think less rules are better here, but I'm willing to go along if people think a change is necessary.
Completely agree!
(Except I wouldn't go along with heavy rules additions.)

The main issue that people have had is apparently with me playing too competitively. So how about I agree to behave how others wish for a while, and everyone else just plays as normal? (For example, ending turn during the first login or shortly after, and not playing the new turn if it's been less than a certain number of hours since I ended the last one.) Does that sound reasonable?
Also, I see ASM is last to play... can he or Mist send on the password for Mongolia to Azza? It seems there's no strong objection from anyone (particularly me or Seven) about him taking over, so let's not hold up the game unnecessarily.

Uh no. You basically just said for a little while you'd behave. How long is a little while? I mean what the fuck. Of course you'd behave now that you've already pretty much stomped out any competition around you and you can afford to take it easy. How long is a little while? I don't trust you because you're a competitive liar and you simply will start up antics again as soon as someone is near to you and you're in a competitive setting. I don't believe that you will ever be able to live by the spirit of the rules. Unless physical rules are put into place you will break them. It's just who you are.
Your little slip there is too indicative of your true nature. I don't know if we can continue with you in this game.

No permanent change of attitude? You just play like others for a few turns and then continue old ways? Not quite what I hoped for. If you can't give up timer shanigans and exploting the rules to the fullest, finding the replacement is best option.

For a while...
How stupid do you think we are LP? Just how fucking stupid do you think we are?
