Again, we should only need two bowmen to defend against anything that could be on that galley. Also I just realized we're all fools and didn't take into account he might have promos waiting on all his units ...

Yeah, but the thing is that if suttree moves NE next turn, our bowmen can't get into Jamestown anymore and non-shock bowmen do not have odds against suttree's axes.

And if I have understood the mechanics correcly, the fact that suttree's units do not have that blue glow means that no upgrades are available..

Re: promos: oh, duh, I've pointed that out to other people before.

Re: Jamestown: you mean you're afraid of whatever's left of suttree's stack plus whatever's on the boat being able to take Jamestown? Mm, yeah, I guess we will have to think about that.

Does that mean that only the top defender does not have a promo available and I was wrong? huh

Yeah, that's exactly the worry. If we defend Hastings with all we have and suttree moves to Jamestown, it will mean that suttree's force will be destroyed, but if we are unlucky he might be able to raze Jamestown first..

I'm almost certain no blue glow means no promotions are available on any of the units on the tile, if a blue glow is visible at least one promotion is available on at least one unit on the tile.

About Jamestown, I'm not sure what to say. Also, my input may be limited till Monday because I have a public speaking engagement on Sunday which I need to both prepare for and deliver. Especially Sunday I probably won't be on the boards at all, at least till late.

While we are waiting for a new turn, here is a little simplification.

Suttree's PB13:

Step 1: Screw up your opening - DONE
Step 2: Have a size 1 city razed because you can't defend it - DONE
Step 3: Ruin your neighbors game, because you already fucked up your own - IN PROGRESS (~950 hammers sent to do it so far)
Step 4: Gift your cities to Yurimack - INEVITABLE

shakehead

Yeah, I know that this is a part of civ 4 metagame, but suttree, you are simply being lame. The best outcome from all of this is that you maybe can raze one city from us. There is simply nothing in this war for you. Except probably some kind of satisfaction that you are getting from ruining our game. shakehead

And yeah suttree, maybe you want to send a sign for your future games? If I am one of your neighbors in a future game and you perform as miserably as in this game, I promise that I will punish you again. shakehead Then we just see how many screw-up-ragequit-revenge games we need to play together before I can really start competing with the rest of the field without such a pain in the ass.

While Fintourist goes to have a lie down in a darkened room I had a shot at simming the battle options. If Suttree spends a turn bombarding our culture we can get 8 axes, four or five bowmen, a warrior, two spears and two chariots into Hastings. (If he doesn't then he won't get odds in any battles.)

If we don't give the axes CII it looks like about 10-13 of our units will survive, if we do give them CII 10-13 units seem to survive as well, so I think we might as well hold on to the promotions for healing. The big question is how to move the bowmen NE of the city. I'd like to move Yossarian back to Jamestown in case he moves NE, but if Suttree attacks Hastings and the RNG goes bad we could end up losing seven or eight units...

Anyway, the turn is up, but we probably need to wait for dtay just in case of the settling race.

Yeah, I think we want to move Yossarian to Jamestown. We also want the extra warrior into Hastings in order to take his share of collateral.

I'm already cursing that we did not sacrifice that one worker and chop the forest E of Hastings. I don't like suttree moving NE and also unloading 2-4 extra units onto that tile.. If we get him to attack Hastings and lose 7 units I'm actually quite relieved although I'm of course cursing our RNG luck..

Well, let's hope that suttree keeps making bad decisions..
