Not sure when this will all be finished by, but probably not in time for LordParkin's schedule trip. If it isn't up before he goes (and I seriously doubt it will be), then we will have a planned start date of Jan 16 or whenever he returns. It really isn't fair to ask him to have someone play the initial turns for him unless he can see his start first and give specific instructions.

Specifically he needs to be able to see his start right? And ideally move his unit. If people are having connection issues or some other delay on the hosting side, I know sometimes we've emailed out screeshots of the starts first. And, if it got the game starting a week earlier, I'd be ok with LordParkin even told Krill which tile he'd move his unit to and then Krill did so in Worldbuilder and then sent a new screenshot and LordParkin told the lurker where to settler. So long as the lurker moved to the same spot, I don't think that gives an unfair advantage.

I think that would be very reasonable. I could execute his movements for him, or someone else with Pitboss experience could do it.

But LordParkin would need that information by tomorrow I think, because he is going to be without internet for about two weeks.

Well, 10 days. Closer to one week than two.

Krill mentioned a few posts back that he wouldn't be able to finish the map for another day or so yet (at the earliest). Haven't heard an update since then.

Need to point out that the map is not likely to be finished before Tuesday night GMT. I finished a night shift a few hours ago (3rd on the trot), and I'm now back on days and working tomorrow, plus I'm about to go sleep. So no real rush.

It sounds like we might be cutting things a bit fine in this case, and my girlfriend will be a bit annoyed if I'm constantly checking the computer tomorrow morning when we're supposed to be packing.

Worst comes to worst, it sounds like we're still at least a few days out from starting anyway (what with waiting for the map, host and new forum). So a start date of the 15th (US time) would probably only really delay the game by no more than a week (not two). Alternatively, there are always tricks you can do with changing the pitboss timer if everyone else wants to think about their start while they wait. For instance, you could set the initial timer to 300 hours so anyone can log in and check things out while they wait, then change the timer to 24 hours for the start of the next turn when I'm back. Just a thought, anyway.

Once again, sorry for the inconvenient timing of my absence, but from what I can see it really should only make a difference of one week (if that). Hopefully that's not too long for people to wait, if worst comes to worst. On the bright side, it'll give Krill more time to check over the map if he so desires, rather than trying to rush it out in the next 24 hours and potentially leave in small mistakes as a result.

By the way, to any mods - would it be okay if I started my spoiler thread in this forum, to be moved by a mod as soon as the new forum is set up? Otherwise it looks like I'm not going to be able to post anything spoiler-related until I get back.
