Yeah pretty much. We can easily clear out that ruins when we get wood golems, and that would be around the time after we've placed our third city, so hopefully we should go settle that place as our fourth. As long as we settle to the west of the river it shouldn't be a very agressive placement anyways, it's not like it's far away from our borders.
I'm thinking after this settler is done, another warrior, then maybe a mud golem (if needed), then we'll see if there's any infrastructure that's needed (will check next time i get the turn), and if not we might as well throw out a settler and two warriors or so to accompany it while we wait for construction to be finished. 2 warriors plus the settler should be done around the time construction is finished, so we can get out barnaxus right away, then a few wood golems and a settler to get the ruins city.
Will get up a more detailed plan later, maybe when I get the save next.
It's gonna suck not having your advice if we end up both playing that PBEM3 :P

Well... I just found out where Ilios city was placed and I don't like it at all:
Well that just sucks. Now I will definitely settle the ruins city if I get there first, and I may have Ilios as my first target, which admittedly is far away in the future. Dunno if I can get the ruins city as my #3 city though, which was supposed to be the gold city that Ilios took. May need to look for some other spot. I'm also probably still going to place some city between Ithralia and Ilios' city as a buffer, maybe the light-blue dot in this old dotmap:
In other news, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci killed a skeleton and a lizardman while defending our fair capital.

Settler finished!
I start work on a 1-turn warrior because i don't want to risk anything. Not much else do build anyways. Could get a few turns in on the brewing house, as I will reach my happy limit next turn when Ithralia grows but I don't think it was worth it, besides I need a few more warriors for protection, especially since some will leave with my settler. Will probably make a warrior next turn as well, and then start on a mud golem or a settler, depending on the need. Ithralia doesn't need any more improvements right now, so the mud golem can work fully on our second city and there's not much to do there either that he can't do alone.
Anyways I move the settler out southwest but there are two annoying skeletons in my way and I didn't want to risk anything, so instead of just two warriors I bring along three, leaving my capital with two (the one remaining and the one just created) which is why I will probably create another warrior next turn as well.
One of those warriors had enough exp for a promotion, and I gave him one, because I wanted to feel extra safe. Now two of the warriors have 50% odds on the skeleton, while the third has 70%.

I'd say that is the right call. We want to push expansion at this stage. Looks like the barbs are active but manageable, so we'll probably be working for another settler soon.
Brewing house is pretty nice for Dwarves though. Gives them +2xp. Of course that doesn't matter too much for us, as soon we'll be giving up the barbarous idea of live units in frontline combat. Something to bear in mind whenever we're recruiting adepts though.

Agreed. Looks like a pretty good site for him, grabbing reagents, incense and gold. And its annoying that he valued it so highly. If we get the chance liberating it for the glory of the Luchuirp might be fun.
We'll definitely need to settle a filler site between that city and the Malakim. Hopefully one which applies pressure to the gold, and grabs some dye.
In the short term we're way behind in a culture fight thanks to creative.. but if we pushed culture in the city we could win a long term one. He'll probably be abandoning creative at the first switch, and we'll be getting sculptors studios in most of our cities. With a bit of effort we can overturn him.
This would be a great situation for Overlords culture, but its still not worth pursuing the religion just for culture...

Yeah, question is if the 3rd city should be put near there or if we should wait. I mean when we put a city there (I'm hoping the hill spot next to the gold is still available, can't see exactly where his city is yet) our intents will be somewhat obvious. And we can't put our 3rd city between the gold spot and our capital, as that won't leave enough space for gold city. 4th city should be available when we get construction, so that would make the ruins site a good spot. Unless we want to take a gamble and try to make the ruins site our third? That would require us to bring along quite a few warriors to get rid of the 2 lizardmen that probably will be there, plus whatever comes out of the ruins, if anything.

I'd say go for the ruins as our fourth city. As part of the levelling up of Barnaxus he can help clear out the ruins.
The trouble is.. there aren't really any stellar sites around. A lot of sites that will be decent aristofarms in the future, but nothing with many resources.
Are we in much danger of getting the jungle sites taken by Uberfish? Sugar, dye and bannanas are all up for grabs, and it would be a shame to lose them as well as *our* gold. It might be a good idea to see if there are any more workable tiles down there that would let us get in a working early city.

You're right, I should probably send down one of the warriors there from our second city after it's been founded, to see if there's anything good. We won't be able to work either the banana or the sugar tiles before we get bronze working, which is too bad, so unless we find a few more non-jungle tiles it'll be hard to keep a city there afloat before we get that tech, it'll be more of a burden before then. It still makes sense though, as there isn't anyone who will take our northern lands I don't think.
Not sure exactly how far away Uberfish is, but it seems that we are all pretty close to another, so maybe 10-15 tiles southwest, which means the jungle is smack in the middle, and he has already explored it, which means he knows if there is anything good there to settle asap.

Been busy the past few days and only been able to play and not report anything.
Not that anything's been going on really. A lizardman is heading southeast towards Ilios' new city, hopefully he can cause some ruckus down there. Won't be telling Ilios of its movements though! It also made me realize that I won't be able to place a city on the hill to the west of the gold there though, since the city's borders will probably expand soon to cover that spot.
Michelangelo killed another skeleton on his way to the cotton spot, and can now take a second promotion, but I'm waiting with that one. Sadly Tullio Lombardo got killed by a skeleton He was a part of the expeditionary force with the settler, and died protecting our nation. Luckily I have two more warriors along, so they should be fine. Next turn a city is founded I hope. City will start working the 4f/1c GL farm that's already completed, so new city can grow to size two asap, while Clay the mud golem will start working on a cotton tile. Not sure what the city will make, maybe a warrior for some extra protection now that Lombardo is dead.
And yeah the new warrior created in Ithralia got the name Auguste Rodin, which Shanahan suggested.

Were you able to counter-attack and kill the skeleton before it promoted? Or do you now have a Combat I\II skeleton hanging around?

It attacked when I sent the turn to Serdoa, so I haven't been able to do anything yet. I'll probably attack it asap when I get the turn though. Depends on my odds and whatnot. I would like to leave as many skeletons as I can for Barnaxus to munch on, but it will take a while before I get him so I will probably have to kill the skeleton before that. Michelangelo should be able to do the job with his combat promotion, and if not I can always give him another.
