FFH II PBEM V Tech Thread

Ah, I knew I forgot to add tech trading to the list. I intend for this to be a no tech-trading game.

I also didn't include huts, but that's because surely everyone is okay with them smile

One other thing- I'm taking Dain off the allowed leaders list. I forgot that he's in PBEM 4. If I missed anyone or someone is on there who shouldn't be, let me know.

huts are fine.

How are we going to select leaders? Just choose and agree in the end or do some sort of pick?

Dagnabit, suggestion made at 9pm, signups closed at 5am, guess I should have stayed up later!

When you all say "human takeover of Basium", do you just mean allowing people to switch civs to infernals/mercurians replacing their previous civs with AIs? Or do you mean this idea where both the summoning and the new civ are controlled by humans? Has anyone confirmed that's technically feasible?

If it's the latter, than what I'll do instead is sign up as Basium. By which I mean I will dedicately not lurk the game at all, and volunteer to take over Basium whenever it is that he is summoned. In fact I quite like that option, ensures I'll be on the winning side wink

The way it worked in PBEM 1 was that we sent our top three picks to Darrell via PM, and he then assigned everyone civs based on them, trying to get everyone what they wanted as best as possible. I think we should do the same here, so PM uberfish with your top three choices.

I'll send him my choices and our confirmed game options now.

I mean the latter, which has not been done yet in a PBEM game but should be possible using a method articulated by T-Hawk. The game is run for a turn as a pitboss, allowing the person hosting to release command of the summoned civ (or the one being abandoned by the summoner) from the AI to human control. The game is then run as a PBEM again, with the extra player slotted in to the normal rotation. So we could potentially have eight people playing in this PBEM- thankfully, it's likely that at least one or two of us will be dead or on the way out by the time we have Hyborem and Basium taking the field =)

I'm happy for you to wait in the wings, but I can't guarantee you can have Basium. The person summoning Basium may of course prefer to control him themselves. It's also the right of whoever summons Basium to appoint whoever they wish to take control of him / their former civ. They built the wonder, after all wink. I don't think it will be an issue if you're ready to take Hyborem / whichever civ summons him, since Hyborem is a free agent.

Ok, so likely it will be a dedicated-lurker taking over Basium then. In which case I could take a punt at who's most likely to do it and try and convince them I'd be good for them. But I think I'll just put first dibs on Hyborem instead.

EDIT - Hyborem or the abandoned civ that is.

Cool. Just don't be surprised if certain characters of ill-repute have a tendency to bail to Hyborem when their mother civ is in its death throes shhh

ok I don't have to do anything in the world builder setup to enable Hyborem, right?

Map criteria appear to be

All starts on one landmass
All unique features
Balanced but non-mirrored start
Details up to me

If you want significant islands or other continents, I suggest not picking Lanun wink

Just don't select "Compact Enforced", and there's nothing else you have to do to enable Hyborem.

I've PMed you my picks, and I'll send you the full game details soon.

As far as the map itself goes, yeah what you have is right. Don't forget to give everyone super settlers and to trim any excess goblins & bridgits on your final edit smile
