Well I wasn't going to say anything, but since you gave me some PC....

Yes - sunrise pointed out that if the chariot moved SW-W (on to the tile 1W of the incense), he could see Cumin and the holkan, but not the crossbow or axe

1020 AD come and played.

Just 2 turns left on my Please Shoot don't invade me with a giant knight stack world tour!

He did move up a bunch of units this past turn

[Image: civ4screenshot0003g.jpg]

but I'm pretty sure that was just an incense plantationing worker guarding stack. Mmmmm smoke smoke smoke

I did end up moving my holkan back off that hill, because I felt like he could whack that with a mace and probably cover it with enough materiel that I wouldn't be able to kill it. That does run the risk that he'll just move those units up on my plains hill mine, but really I've been under that risk for awhile anyways....

2 Christian missionaries produced this past turn, and I realized that I forgot to actually revolt to Christianity smoke

[Image: civ4screenshot0005.jpg]

So I went ahead and did that this turn. I don't think it cost me anything, since I'm under the happy cap and the 2 cities that have had Christianity have been producing units (missionaries) for the past few turns. I did send one of the newly produced missionaries to Cardamom, and gained 5 hammers on the forge it's building. It's going to build another missionary next turn before I revolt over to Theocracy in 2 turns.

Speaking of Cardamom

I'm at 55% on the spice tile outlined. I got control of it a few turns ago, so it does seem like my control is rising. If I can keep control of this tile for awhile, I might be able to make some inroads with enough cats and knights (or maybe even cats and maces?) Something to keep in mind...

I started Moai in an offshore city near Serdoa

[Image: civ4screenshot0008w.jpg]

I decided to build 9t Moai over 8t forge (which is what I had originally queued up). Base production is 10h but really only 7h so a forge would only gain me 1hpt. Moai gives me 4hpt plus 1 more with each growth. Forge does give 3 happy but I've got a bunch of happy coming online soon.

I need a few more settlers.

1040 AD is in the books, and I've managed to avoid a giant knight stack from Shoot the Moon. Or at the very least, avoided a giant knight stack while I a) don't have Engineering and b) am not in Slavery.

Engineering came in at the end of the turn and the score increase from the tech as well as a few pop growths, and what have we here?

[Image: civ4screenshot0015o.jpg]

Now granted I am a VERY distant 3rd, but I am in 3rd nonetheless!! thumbsup Serdoa and WarriorKnight seem to be in a slugfest, if their sliding power graphs are any indication. Unfortunately it seems like Shoot the Moon's power is rising VERY rapidly. So while I haven't seen that knight stack just yet, I'm suspecting it's out there somewhere...

Next turn is the last turn of my golden age, and I plan on revolting to Hereditary Rule, Slavery and Theocracy, which will get me in better civics, as well as save 3gpt (pre-inflation)

[Image: civ4screenshot0014.jpg]

The grand Mayan Academy rebuild plan is also nearing its fulfillment. Next turn I'll swap out of Caste like I said, but I'll keep 2 scientists hired (from the library) which will be enough to pop a scientist which can go to Paprika for an academy.

I believe I should have enough to get Calendar in 1t at the end of the Golden Age - I wanted to make sure and save enough money to upgrade a holkan to a pike if I needed to. I definitely will feel a lot better if I had at least 3-5 pikes. Tech path after Calendar is Feudalism and then Guilds, though I may slot in Meditation for a Christian Monastery and at some point I'd like to get up to Literature for the Epics

For fun, here's the tech screen.

[Image: civ4screenshot0016g.jpg]

Shoot the Moon (Sury - on top) is up:
* Feudalism (609)
* Aesthetics (261)
* Alpha (261)
* Calendar (304)
* Guilds (871)
* Literature (174)
* Drama (261)
* Banking (609)

That's 3250 beakers, and getting awful close to Rifles frown (it was worse when I thought he also had Printing Press but he doesn't have Paper ... yet... )

WarriorKnight is up:
* Meditation (69)
* Feudalism (609)
* Aesthetics (261)
* Alpha (261)
* Calendar (304)
* Paper (522)
* Education (1567)
* Banking (609)

I have Monotheism (104) and Theology (435) though that doesn't really matter as he has Shwedagon Paya, but that's a net of 3663 beakers.

You may remember back on Turn 94, WK had 2558 beakers on me.

So in 19 turns, he's gained 1105 beakers on me, or about 58bpt. Now granted I haven't really been swimming in roses during those turns, and it's not entirely unexpected, but it's certainly not a good portent for the game (not like I was expecting one!! lol)

I think I remember asking you what your objective for this game was smile.

So the big news of the day is

[Image: civ4screenshot0027.jpg]

I get to play a little Shoot the Moon! Too bad it's not against him frown

(sorry darrell I gave you like 10 minutes...)

In less exciting news, I connected my spices and dyes, which makes my happy cap in Paprika 20. Still have sugar (now that I have a sufficient anti-Shoot the Moon force guarding my workers) and a market to go.

WarriorKnight researched Liberalism this turn, so next turn we'll get to see what he takes (probably Nationalism).

...and ... anti-climactically, the city auto-razed. I had decided I'd keep it, but I did queue up a settler to refound (probably on the same spot, though maybe on the iron hill)

Lame...I was waiting for you to tell me the outcome first nono. Too bad the city auto-razed, my recollection was a city that had popped the borders would not do that when captured.
