[SPOILER] Asoka of the Vikings (Nakor & Gaspar)

I replayed the turn, hopefully the same way you did, as I didn't want to hold up the game. Also, this must be the most boring thread to read ever.

As we met Warriorknight this turn, I sent him a meaningless fluff diplo letter. I have a sneaking suspicion he's not long for this game, one way or another, but I thought it best to be polite.

Things will get more interesting later on... this start is indeed pretty boring...

And another turn of scouting... nothing new to add...
Let's move our western scout west before going north.

We met LP. Nothing else to report.

Wow! And I was waiting for a long report with lots of interesting thoughts for this game... :neenernee

Seriously, what will be our third city?

I did another shuffle around turn, just pushing for Circumnavigation with the scouts (if it exists... certainly hope so, we could cause some havoc if we get it with 4 move galleys.)

LP sent us an in game message because we didn't reply to his initial email. We need to have us a think about how we want to handle that. I don't see him as a potential ally, though in fairness, that's probably mostly just because of his 47 dedlurkers and his slightly irritating behavior in the sign-up thread. I'll leave this to you, you're usually the voice of reason. wink

Settler completes next turn, so we basically have to decide now. I really don't think we can settle the gold city with no food bonuses. So we're going to have to rethink the dotmap. More and more I'm thinking settling on the horses is the best play. Regardless, let's settle the copper city next and give us some time to think about it. Build another scout in Greenland to scout the rest of the immediate fogged areas for a better dotmap, followed by another worker to replace the one we'll send to copper city?

Tech we should go Agriculture after BW. Wish we had Mysticism, Hindu hasn't fallen yet and it would really work well to get the religion out of the way, I think we'll absolutely need one to compete long term. Ah well, have to see what we can do down the CoL line maybe after. Pottery after Agriculture and then onto Writing. Gotta get this crappy GNP moving at some point. Really wish we hadn't taken a Fishing/Hunting Civ in a normal speed game. smoke

Onto something moderately more fun, naming. My thought process is maybe name 3 cities a piece after each of the major New World settling expeditions. So we go with 3 Viking cities - Greenland, Vinland, Helluland? Then move onto the next European explorers (Spanish?) and name 3 cities after them and so on and so forth. We should probably rename our Civ the explorers then?

What do we want to name units? We have many unnamed warriors at the moment. I suppose something like Leif Ericsson Crewman for Warriors, Colombus Crewman for Axes etc could work. I feel like we maybe talked about this earlier and I've totally forgotten. Our naming conventions for PBEM12 are much easier. lol

Agreed, let's settle copper first, then we can think about the rest.

Maybe tech Myst before Agri? We do need border pops in our new cities and if we wait for a religion or for libraries, it will be a bit late, I think.

Let's agree to LP. No reason not to at this point in the game. Í'll send him a message.

Regarding naming: I have no inspiration. We can change our theme completely and just go with colors or whatever. I'll leave that up to you...
