Okay Turn 61 played. Only a few more folks to play so we should get in another turn before too long today
The big news!
I moved our scout to the wine tile (green circle), defogging the coast around to SleepingMoogle.
So as noted in the green square, we now have a trade route! I tried to open borders with him, but there was no option to do so. This confused me, until I went back and re-read his email and saw that he will complete Writing at the END of this turn.
So we'll make sure to do that when the turn flips.
He has 4 cities, so if all of them are connected by road, and if I understand the trade route mechanics correctly ( this thread, specifically post #76, was very useful), then we should see quite the increase in bpt next turn.
Currently we're getting 2cpt in trade route income, but we should be able to go up to 10cpt with OB. That will almost double our research rate, which would be "a good thing"

Another thing to note - the existence of a wine tile! That's the first one I've seen - "our" area does not have one, at least as far as I can tell, and that, sugar and spices are I think the only resources "we" don't have.

Email from Moogle
Quote:I can't actually propose Open Borders until turn 62, but feel free to request it once the turn has rolled over if I haven't done so already (Adlain still needs to finish the turn at the time of this writing). Lord Parkin's Warrior is at the border waiting for Open Borders as well, so you may very well meet up while you're both inside of my borders.
Regarding the scouts in the south, I was hoping to find another way east further towards the north. There is no such possibility though? In that case, turning around and requesting open borders with Locke may indeed be the best bet. It may be possible to go around his borders and travel east south of them (those tiles are still fogged for me), but this may already have been blocked off as well.
Pleasant dreams,

Quote:Right - I was VERY confused when I logged in to play (T61) and didn't see any options for open borders with you :-). Then I re-read your email and found that you said Writing wouldn't come in till the end of the turn.
As far as we have been able to tell, there is no opening any further east near Locke. I believe that Locke has said that you can reach Nakor's lands through his though - we are heading south to find out!

A bit of a worker / city MM plan:
* Current turn is 61.
Adam:
* just moved to the plains forested hill near Vine
* Chop that 62-64
Bill:
* Just finished roading the grass hill mine near Reading
* 61: Move to gold
* 62-63: Road gold
Vine:
* Working on settler, due in 5
* But it will REALLY be due in 3 (T64) due to chop coming in
Reading:
* Just finished Ihkanda and put on a warrior which I will interrupt in 2 turns when Mysticism comes in to slip in a monument
----
Okay that's not much of a plan - I'll try to flesh that out a bit more later

Turn 62 played and ...
Note how the game engine screwed us out of 1 cpt
For MM purposes later
Vine is at 25/30 and 48/100 on a settler, making 4fpt and 12hpt
Reading is at 16/24 and 5/15 on a warrior, making 3fpt and 4hpt
