Has Confucianism fallen? I confess not paying close attention, but I believe only Hindu, Buddhism and Judaism had fallen thus far. Is it worth making a play towards CoL? IW isn't really useful yet militarily, though it will be needed for the jungled cities in the north. In general Maths, CoL and IW are probably the best bets for near-term techs. Its hard to say what will help the most economically, but that should be the lone near term concern. Improving our tech rate plus increased expansion is pretty much the sum total of what I care about right now.

Got to take another look at the map and see if we need IW soon. If not, I think beelining CoL (maybe through Alpha - Currency or through Monarchy) is a good play.

Also - the Zulu sent us this, which I wanted to touch on:
Quote:Hi Nakor,
How's it going? Not much over here, but I always find it interesting to touch base every now and again just to see what's going on. Over here we're excited to found our 5th city in a few turns, but it's tempered somewhat by the fact that some people already have 8 :-( Speaking of "8:-(" I think that's the name of one of Plako's scouts <g>. Ah well, we'll continue plugging away and I guess see how things go.
So in other world news, it seems kind of early for the Pyramids to be built, don't you think? Especially given that I haven't seen any stone (or marble) on the whole map? As for us I think we're done with wonders, at least any time soon, given that there are 4 Industrious civs on the map. Do you know who it was that founded Judaism? It just showed up as "in a distant land" for us but I don't know if it was luddite (who we haven't met) or if just meant that we don't know about the actual city where it was founded?
We do have a warrior that is kind of heading in your direction through Locke's lands, so hopefully you'll be able to invite him in for a drink or something in a few years! Would you be interested in signing Open Borders at all? We'd be willing to sign them with a "no-scout" clause if you'd like.
Anyway, just checking in - hope to hear from you soon
dan.

Nice enough, and I don't have anything against the Zulu, who are located nowhere near us and would make a decent friend... but whatever we do, don't give them Open Borders without concessions. Game after game around here people OB with the TGL Civ and then that Civ runs a mile in front for GNP.
Not sure what we could ask for as a concession at this early stage, so probably best to just let this rot in the inbox for a bit and pretend we don't check our email much.

Had to sign OB with Rego since the asked in-game and I saw no reason to decline. We can still be friends with everyone.
Sailing in, Mysticism next (3T) towards CoL or Monarchy. We don't need IW for quite some time, so we can head for something else first.
Settler done in Greenland, moving toward the X to found Riverland on our eastern border with Plako. Buidling a Library there (6T).
WB finished and an Galley started in Helluland (5T). Going to send a worker/settler over to that pig/fish/gems site. WB already there to hook up the fish.
2 more settler are in progress, 2 libraries, 1 granary and 1 Galley, that makes 6 cities. All 5 cities have Granaries. Now the need Lib's for border pops. And more workers... always more workers...
No foreign news. I keep asking Luddite to stop spending EP's on us, but he keeps them on us.... annoying...

Furs connected, so our cities can grow some more. Galley whipped, so we can start sailing towards that great site soon.
Next city will be founded next turn.

Sounds good. Getting the border pops is useful, though we've settled our cities in such a fashion that we're getting what we need first ring. Cottages and Libraries will do a lot for our science rate, however.
Only reason I was reticent about OB with rego, et al was the Great Lighthouse. Those extra trade routes really add up. We should reassess down the line, if they start to explode, we should renegotiate. In the interim, we should just focus on ourselves of course.

Riverland founded near Plako. Decided to start on a Library there first to get some culture.
Worker and Settler ready to load onto the Galley next turn to set course for city 7.
Mysticism in, onto Meditation (4T)
Hope to do a picture update later today.

Picture update will be useful - I plan to take a chunk of time Sunday to really get caught up here and give some thoughts on a future plan. I've been a little pressed for actual play time, and since I've had the turnplaying on PBEM12, I've been most active there. I've been less than helpful to you here though, and that wasn't my intent, especially since PBEM12 is a joke and this is still an actual entertaining game. Feel free to insult me many times if I don't have a substantial contribution going forward after this weekend. (Not that you usually need my permission.)

Here's our empire:
Here's our next city site:
And here is troubles:
Send a message to LP.
As for this turn, had to go to 40% science due to working deer instead of furs in Beaverpass. Library done in Greenland. 1t in an Axe for growth and then back to worker/settler.
In foreign news: Hanging Gardens is build! Should be SleepingMoogle, looking at CivStats with founding 2 new cities last turn. Great job micro-ing!

More to say later, but I read LP's message. God his diplo is irritating. I really could do without the condescending 47 smilies and references to "equidistant" over and over. LP, when you read this after the game, you might be a better Civ player than me, but you are definitely, positively, absolutely not smarter than me, so don't talk to us like we're 4th graders. :P
As far as what he proposes, not a lot we can do as he already has a settling party in place.
