XCOM - Terror From the Deep SG

Mardoc Wrote:Is MC a constant feature from here on out, or is it limited to a particular set of aliens, like it was in the first one you played? Depends on the alien race you encounter - but for those with MC capabilities (like the Aquatoids), it only gets worse with bigger vessels. One of the reasons we need to capture a live Deep One so desperately is to open up the MC research branch to try and minimise this kind of damage. Mardoc Wrote:Is MC a constant feature from here on out, or is it limited to a particular set of aliens, like it was in the first one you played? High ranking Aquatoids and Tasoth (which we haven't met yet) have MC, fortunately there isn't an entire psychic race like the Ethereals in the original.
Gosh, what a shame so many aquanauts died. With casualties so high, it seems like you might need to arm some of the zombie corpses of the original crew for a second go. I hear that Bobchillingworth's cadaver has aged rather nicely
Sadly, my second clone has perished. But as he was getting MC attacked, he probably had poor mental strength anyway. Oh well. Bring another out of the revival vats!
Good work completing the mission, Ug. Mass panics and berserking and alien control like that can get very nasty to deal with, and even the soldiers who don't get killed directly tend to have their morale break. We definitely want a live deep one, but I thought we needed a Tasoth to open the MC branch? The live Deep One opens the advanced armor branch, I thought. Aquatoids are definitely nastier than Sectoids from the first game due to MC. In the first game only the top two ranks of Sectoids had MC ability, so you usually only had only 1 MC capable alien except for the very largest UFOs, which would have maybe 3. In TFTD, almost all aquatoids other than basic soldiers have MC ability. So as you saw even a medium sub will have like 5-6 MC capable aliens. Amelia Wrote:Can we get a kill list of the last mission? I have trouble seeing who died and who didn't. Glad you asked this as I spotted a discrepancy - Novice is also dead. Haphazard2, Kronoz and Krill all died from blast injuries from a grenade thrown by Serdoa whilst under MC control. RefSteel and Serdoa were killed by grenade blasts whilst they were being MC controlled. Throwers were David Corperial and Meiz respectively. Plako and Dicorina were shot down whilst under MC control by beserk troops (Dicorian and Pling respectively) Novice died in mysterious circumstances whilst unconcious inside the USO admist the firefight on the second floor. I can only assume his slumbering form was hit by a stray shot. haphazard1 Wrote:We definitely want a live deep one, but I thought we needed a Tasoth to open the MC branch? The live Deep One opens the advanced armor branch, I thought. I've double checked on this to be sure. According to the wiki you need either a live Deep One OR Calcinite terrorist to open up MC LAB research. The live Tasoth opens up the MC Disruptor later (http://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php?title=TRTBAG) As you point out, a live Deep One also opens up the armour tree.
