[SPOILERS] Bismark of Sumeria (luddite + Atlas1998)

luddite Wrote:When LP was moving his warrior through my territory, I moved units out of the way so he couldn't see anything. So maybe he told mackoti that he still had time to prepare defense? That's the only explanation I can think of for why mackoti build so many settlers and zero defense.

Obviously we can't confirm or deny anything, but even if this is true I am amazed he didn't react to your massive power rating spike.

Why did you pick Sumeria, btw?
So far it seems like a decent choice, but I don't think you ever really explained the decision. What other civs did you consider?

I didn't pick it! That was Atlas1998's choicelol

Well, we agreed that we wanted a civ with agriculture/wheel and early unique units. He picked Sumeria while I was busy traveling, and at that point there weren't a whole lot of good choices left. I've never really used them before, but so far I like it. Although I'll have trouble if I have to face axemen with equal promotions.

Here's the situation in the south right now. I can't see his chariot, so he either moved it SE or deleted it.

I'm also thinking that, since I'm the first to aesthetics, I can get more fail gold by building the statue of zeus or schwedegon paya. Scrap metal economy, baby! Getting 2.75 gold/hammer is the equivalent of building wealth in a city with ironworks, factory, and forge. Aesthetics also allows the parthenon- kind of expensive without marble, but it would be helpful for me here.

I'm moving a galley up in the north. Mostly just to scout, but maybe I can trick him into moving back units to defend against the galley.

I think I almost have enough spy points now with Mackoti that if I switch to hinduism I could get visibility on his hindu city. I'll have to make that switch, soon.

Apparently plako and WarriorKnight had an NAP until turn 110, but they're both planning on going to war as soon as it ends. WarriorKnight told me that he doesn't expect to win, he just wants to go down fighting. I can respect that- and anything that slows down plako at this point will help me a lot smile.

This picture amused me. Is that four stacks of vultures, or just one moving really fast???

I would say 4, since one has promotion and other three do not....

I think the cold medicine is making your vision blur...

heh, I guess I was really out of it yesterday.

Anyway, here's the big news from this turn:

WarriorKnight has declared on plako. I have no idea what Warriorknight's army is like, but plako is just a hair behind me in power, so I really doubt that Warriorknight will accomplish anything with this attack. But, you never know. Tactics and RNG rolls count for a lot.

Also, someone founded Christianity. I'm surprised anyone got Theology this early. The most recent prophet was born in 900 BC, I think to LP. Was he really saving the prophet this long for a bulb? I guess it could also be Adfain, since he makes odd tech choices and seems to really like religions. The Apostolic Palace could be good here, just for the hammers.

I've whipped Harp yet again, to put in a forge there. The city is now at 3 whip unhappiness, but that's OK because of my huge happiness cap with forge resources. I'll let it regrow while building a lighthouse, and then make settlers/workers until the whip anger goes away.

Kinsale can really generate a lot of commerce now that I've got the colossus. I'll keep building the Shwadegon Paya there while it grows, but then switch it to workers/settlers also (my capital just finished a settler, and it can grow a little more building vultures before it too switches to settlers. Murphy's will stick to full time unit production).

Still no signs of aggresssion from Mackoti, but I did spot his chariot in the south. I'll finish my trireme in 3 turns.
