Adventure 49 - Options - Closing Day

T-hawk Wrote:I played a few turns of the opening but that was all. I saw that the southeast city and southwest city might both be in range to reach before turn 25 when the border and culture defense expands (Creative civ.) So I tried to take both... and saw the first city unexpectedly get auto-razed! I did capture the second one, but it didn't look like anything special enough to hold my interest playing out on Prince. Hope some others come with full reports.
All cities should have been within easy reach within 20 turns. Sad that it auto razed - was it size 1? None of my test games did that.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Yes they were - my point was that you could get to *two* of them with the full army, one after the other, inside of 25 turns. My goal was to play with two starting capitals. Yes my target was size 1 (and of course had never been above 1, you can't whip by turn 10), I just didn't realize it would auto-raze.

I played also but ended up not having the time to find a good story.

A brief sumamry was that I rushed Izzy expecting her to found budhism... she didn't so I just killed her off. I set myself the aim of founding Washington on the tile we started on with my 2nd city and then just played on from there. Unfortunately prince wasn't really what I was looking for and I quickly became a runaway after taking out the Dutch with swords and cats.

That's almost exactly what I did too, except I used horse archers instead of swords and cats.

I originally had 10 warriors but found that you could take 2 cities way to easily. Trying for 2 with 5 would have been risky but open for the event.

I went for two with five and got both, although one auto-razed.

Even with the auto-raze, having double the land at Prince made it a runaway. I could have realistically won however I wanted, but decided to simply end the game when Asoka was stupid enough to propose Religious victory when he controlled the AP. By complete chance I was right below the needed votes (thus avoiding the limitation on voting yourself in) and won with some random other civ voting for me. If anyone wants a brief write-up I'll do it, but Prince with 2x the land of anyone else isn't really that interesting of a read I suspect.

Similar story here - I started an elaborate write-up and completely lost interest. I took a chance and split the warriors and took out the Dutch and Spanish, keeping both capitals. From there I was ridiculously ahead and got bored and quit playing 100T in. I'm really annoyed with myself about it actually, I've probably played 10 SP events here over the last 5 years and I either don't finish, don't finish in time, or don't get around to writing a report. Oh well.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

You could, of course, win the event as according to the original description simply by posting what you do have smile

Game complete - I decided to give myself as much of a challenge as possible & took Madrid & Constantinople with the 5 warriors.

I then had to trudge along with the tough maintenance costs of cities & Portugal putting down cities like wildfire.

Eventually managed to unite east & west side and win via space (just 12 votes short of diplo win at the time)

I will do a bit more of a report if you like, but is anyone else?

I am a couple turns away from Dom. I just kept playing a few turns a day and eventually made it through.

Unfortunately, I don't have a particularly good write-up to post, but I'll do what I can.
