only thing I can think of is that I should have goten our leader involved in the fight for xp ofc.

and for the future there is no good reason for us to recall max level units till the final battle

Will any of our level 3 units get a chance to advance further, or are they permanently capped? I am not sure what is controlled by the scenario and what is controlled by the unit type. huh

um some level 3 units advance farther meaning changing into other units.

Maxing levels can get stronger but is is only a small bit of hp no damage increase. You can tell if a unit is maxed level wise is if you look at the xp on the unit tab on the right side of the screen. It is blue if it can still improve or purple if it is maxed.

Very helpful bit of info, thanks! I was checking the unit description and trying to figure it out that way, which was very awkward. Getting the info at a glance is much better. smile

Turns played, pretty good progress overall.

Turn 7

We eliminate all the remaining blue troops except the king, and advance on his keep. We kill 1 unit in the big castle, need to keep pushing forward.

IBT we take some damage, but no losses.

Turn 8

We kill 4 units in the big castle and press forward; also the blue king is killed by a level 1 thug who promotes to outlaw. We also promote a dwarf thunderer to thunderguard, and a longbow to a master bowman. We also clean up the last blue unit, a wolf rider summoned last turn -- blue is eliminated.

IBT nothing important, we take damage but no losses.

Turn 9

We kill several more green units and clear the north side; units advance into the center next to the princess. Almost there. smile A bandit promotes to highwayman and a footpad to outlaw.

IBT an orc warlord moves onto the princess' tile. No easy grab to finish this turn, unfortunately.

Keep cycling troops as they get injured. Make sure our king gets pulled back in the north, and watch the health against the slurbows in the south. I have a guy pushing a second front in the SE, but he should probably pull back now that the second orc has moved up.

What is the tile just east of our starting keep? Some kind of special event? Should we trigger it?

Good luck, and hopefully we can wrap this one pretty soon.

just so you know lewwyn you can send our lichs into the deep water so I see a good chance of us wining the turn you load. Well maybe the second turn but still its gona be quick.

I killed 7ish orcs in two turns, got a trapper to level and an outlaw and bandit some more exp.

Then I freed the princess from between two orcs. I killed two during the first turn, but IT two more cam up and covered the cage. Luckily the minister of Justice killed the one on the cage and the other was able to move onto the cage through the ZOC. We were victorious with no losses in my turns.

Except maybe economic losses?

lol negative gold carried over? Well if you look at the new scenario there doesn't seem to be any real loss to our gold so it didn't carry over:

And as for the recall of the high levels, I wanted the fugitives so that I would be able to hold ground on flat areas. I understand wanting to save them, but I felt higher levels gave us a better chance of completing the mission and saving the princess. And after all we still had a good share of units level up so no real loss of experience.

Oh and I know that the higher level units cost more upkeep usually its best not to recall the highest level units because they cost so much. I figured in this situation this was the best option. Not sure we could have won with more lower level units that could possibly get 1 shotted.

Turn 1

I send the scout forward and find . . .

A giant troll army lol I was acualy expecting much worse.

Turn 2

I didn't feal like fighting my way trough all of them with the chokepoint right in the way. So I started sending our leader and several mages to the tunnel to the east.

Turn 3

Continue the plan to stall the army and continue the run around.

I laughed when I saw that the trolls never attacked our army on a hill and just sat their begging me to attack them.

Turn 4 start up.

They still haven't attacked the main front but the troll on the side did deal damage to our leader as he charged forward.

@Lewwyn sorry if the images don't come through this time the photo site I was using earlier is now saying my photos are too big to upload. Even though nothing has changed. [Image: idunno.gif]

Well, it did say our carryover or the minimum gold for the next map.

Not that we have a keep to actually spend any gold....

Against those slurbows and warlords, I was worried about the level 2 units getting 1 shotted. Level 1 units.... yikes

Fire&Ice, by default Wesnoth seems to generate BMP files for screenshots and they are huge (2+ MB per). I convert my screenshots to JPG before uploading, I usually get about 10% of the original size and still look fine.

OK, time to kill some trolls! hammer

OK, very quick turnset. Not much of interest happening, really. Just killed 6 or 7 trolls and cycled hurt units back for healing. Managed to get a couple kills for our new sorceress, not really much else to report.
